The power supply jack to my HP Pavillion DV1000 has stopped working. I believe that the problem is in the jack which fits onto the motherboard. Where can I get this done?

Anyone that can solder suface mounted components can repair this. You should see a local service shop. The hard part is getting to the component as the unit must be completely dis-assembled.

My hp pavillion 503n has a amber light in front...power supply fan comes on but doesnt power up

This could still be a power supply issue. You can buy a power supply tester. This will tell you if the power supply is putting out power to all of the cables.
The other cause of this issue could be a motherboard issue. HP would have to replace the motherboard. A lot of the time HP make their mother boards to fit only their cases. This makes it hard to place a non HP board into a HP case.

Hi the power went out in our office, and now our pavillion a600n won't turn on. The green led on the back is flashing and making a clicking sound. What to do?

Unplug the computer and let is sit, then plug it back in. If that doesn't work check to see if there is a reset button on the back (on the power supply where the power cable is going on) if there is press it. If that doesn't work, then try plugging it in to a different wall jack (if it is connected to an uninterpretable power supply, then that could be the problem.) Best Wishes!

Powes ups then dies

Do a visual inspection of the Electrolytic Capacitors on the motherboard first.

Then check the power supply with a power supply tester, (About $15), OR replace the power supply with a known, good one for a test.

Visual Signs of Capacitor Failure,

Want to know more just state so in a Comment.

Hp pavillion media center a 1540n cpu fan runs, power supply runs, when i hold the switch it won't power-down unless i un-plug video (not even bios) does this mean...

Try clear cmos, if the motherboard bad you must wait so long, maybe you can turn on computer, and they can work perfect, but when you turn off computer on power suply, you can´t again turn on computer.
If this so you have trouble with motherboard.

On HP Pavillion 512n - When I plug the computer in only the fans work and the light on the switch is on. There is no drive sound and nothing on display. Is it a motherboard problem or power supply problem?

first thing is to check RAM. Some times faulty RAM stops computer to load up and don not display anything.....if the problem persist try to change cmos battery>>> if problem still there then go for supply check>>>>last comes motherboard........

Monitor on HP Pavillion a656x---blew up the power supply--had an extra and installed it--when machine was turned back on--monitor displays "VIDEO CABLE CONNECTED?---what am I going to do----help!!!---

First thing I would do is try the monitor on another system to see if it's in the monitor or computer. Next would be to fire it up and see if you hear a beep from the motherboard. Most consumer pc's will come with a small speaker that sounds on startup. If you don't hear this beep it could be indicitave of a fried motherboard.

But it sounds to me like your video card or onboard video was messed up when the power supply conked out. If it's onboard video you may be able to switch to a video card. If it's a video card you may need to replace it.

Also check to make sure there are no loose wires, that your video card is seated firmly, and that your connectors are all snug. If none of this works then you're most likely looking at a motherboard replacement.

Installing new power supply in hp pavillion a705w

You will see one big connector with 20 pins which goes to your motherboard and fits from only one direction. connect the 4 pins connectors to your CD/DVD rom(s) and hard disk(s). again the connector can be plugged from one side. If you have a floppy drive then you can connect the smaller white 4 pins connector to it.

Good luck

don't forget to rate this solution. if your problem is solved please rate it as solved

Thank you
