Question about Ovens

1 Answer

I have a GE Monogram oven that is approximately 20-years old. The oven heats up just fine. However, when I turn the oven off, an annoying little bell/buzzer goes off. I pushed the clear/off button and the noise goes away. After about 15 to 30 seconds the buzzer goes off again. The only way to completely eliminate the buzzer is to remove power to the oven. When the oven buzzer is going it appears as though the code on the oven reads F1. Can you help me?

What is the model #.

I ask this because at the GE Monogram Collection site, they ask this:

http://www.monogram.com/service_and_support/literature.htm

You can download information from there, and see what the F1 code means, exactly, or find clues as to what can be done to prevent the buzzer from going on.

I assume that your manual was missplaced after 20 years.

Have you thought of muffling the buzzer piezo electric device, or disconnecting it? Cut the wire to it?

I have a GE True Temp Stove/Oven and the oven will not heat up past 175 and the broil does not work either. It is approximately 13 years old. Any suggestions?

using a multimeter set to measure amperes check each ignitor they should be drawing in between 3-3.3 amps any less then this would be considered a weak ignitor and you would have to change the ignitor if you have any further questions message me back and please rememeber to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations Thanks Rick

HI, this will require the skilled hands of a qualified GE tech. the damaged part here is the Magnetron assembly. this is a very sensitive part that creates radiation and the heating process as well. you will need to replace this device asap if possible.

I bought one built in Feb 2005, installed July 2005. Magnetron tube failed Feb 2007 - cost $127 labor to replace. Just failed again Feb 2008 - will cost roughly $135 to replace this time. Not good for such a high end machine!
