Question about Acer X193W LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I have a Samsung NC10 notebook hooked up to an Acer x193w monitor and up until today it has been working perfectly. Now the display will not fill the monitor's space. Horizontal is fine but vertically the top and bottom do not touch the edge of the monitor's screen - please help.

Do you have a spare computer to hook up to the monitor to see if the monitor's settings are off vertically?

Can you adjust the vertical size of the image of the monitor?

Are the letters squashed down vertically?

If the letters are squashed down vertically, did the setting for pixel size of the screen get adjusted to another size accidentally in the control panel under display settings?

Can you reset the Acer monitor from the menu?

VGA CABLES 15PIN

Use a VGA cable,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

,connect it to the VGA port on the laptop,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SVGA_port.jpg

(Color does NOT matter )

A) Laptop OFF, monitor OFF, connect the CRT monitor to the laptop.

B) Turn the CRT monitor on, allow it to warm up.

C) Turn the laptop on. By factory default the display should now show on the external VGA (CRT) monitor.

IF not, there are at least 3 display options;

1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor AND external VGA (CRT ) monitor
3) External VGA (CRT) monitor ONLY

Press the Fn key down, and hold it down. At the same time tap once on the Display Toggle-Over key.

IF this is in reference to a Samsung NC10-14ROBL Notebook PC,
the Display Toggle-Over key is the F4 key.

Hi, I have an Acer X193W monitor that recently got an update that I guess was from 2008. When I restarted the computer suddenly everything was brighter colorwise. As in Red looked like pink and everything...

you should be able to uses "system restore" to remove the update or to take the computer back to the time before the update. here is a link for a article that will explain it all. if that doesnt work then you can search acers web site for drivers that are compatible with vista. i think you just have a driver issue. in fact, search for the drivers first then use restore if you have to. here is the article.

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/

i just did a quick Google on Acer x193w vista drivers, and found several spots for drivers, here is 1.

the resolution is incorrect for that new monitor , it does not support it, attach the old monitor reduce the display resolution and then hook in the new monitor, up the resolution until it fails again and do nothing it will reset to the last good display resolution and you can leave it there.
hope this helps

Home page does not fill the screen

use the monitor hardware controls on the actual monitor, and if that doesnt work, you have to change the display settings. which you would get to by right clicking your desktop interface, going to properties and display.

Acer x193w on win xp woulnt go above 800x600 resolution

The resolution issue you are describing sounds like a video card driver issue. You must determine what video card or chipset you have and apply the appropriate driver. The Acer x193w monitor is plug and play, it will display whatever the OS sends to it provided it is within it display range and 1440x900 is definitely within that range.

Windows XP Pro. driver for the acer LCD Monitor X193W

Hi,

To my knowledge, it is compatible and certainly would work with XP. Since this monitor has both DVI and VGA inputs make is compatible for most video cards or even a built-in video of the PC. If for some reason the Acer X193W would not work with your Windows XP PC, possible reasons are:
  • Screen Resolution and/or Screen refresh Rate of the PC's Display Properties too high, try lowering them down;
  • hardware fault either on the monitor or video card;
  • incorrect/missing drivers of the video card;
  • it is being hooked as a secondary monitor and the dual/twin view is not activated.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Acer LCD Monitor only displays "acer" logo

You are correct, it could be a power surge that has caused it.

Try this..
Unplug the monitor from the wall.
Remove all the video connections at the monitor end.
Wait 10 minutes then plug the monitor back into the wall (do not connect the video leads)

Turn it on and see if it goes past the ACER logo now. If so, replace the video cables and try the computer.
If not, then one of these will apply and a tech will be required..
  1. The internal bios has been corrupted.
  2. The power supply inside the monitor may have issues preventing the video board from starting correctly. This could be as simple as a few failing capacitors.
Number 2 is the most likely cause with an Acer monitor though. Any local tech will be able to correct it fairly cheaply, but phone around for quotes..they can vary a lot.
