Question about Peg Perego John Deere Gator HPX Ride on Toy
I know that the battery is good, it is new. I unplugged the battery over the weekend and it wouldn't work after replugging. I had the battery and charger checked by someone in maintanence where I work and both are fine. What could the problem be?
From what you are saying, If you unplugged the battery for the weekend (I assume it ran fine before you unplugged it) and after plugging it back in then it did not run, that is most likely a problem with the connector or even battery. The connectors on these vehicles are always in question. But, I must advise that checking the battery and charger is a problem also. You need to check the battery under a load, a load needs to be put on the battery, you can't reliably check that unless you have a load tester. The charger, well, that is another animal. The best way to easily check the system is to hook up a standard 6 amp 12 volt charger to the battery or terminals of the battery while it is all hooked up to the vehicle and see if it runs then? That will tell you alot of things. If it runs then there is a bad connection, either the battery is dead or the connector is dead. If it does not run then you’re looking at a switch that turns it on or possibly a board, but I don't recommend looking into the board until you eliminate the battery and connection.
The good news is that if you hook up a battery charger to the battery while it is in the vehicle that you will know that it is not the battery. If you jiggle the connector and it runs then you will know it is the connector. If all fails then a connector or board is the problem, but I must tell you that the board is probably not a problem, it is in the battery, connector or both.
Go to www.cammshm.com and find out about this kind of stuff. To my amazement these companies will sell you products that have problems and never recall them. As far as Prego, I don't know but as far as Kid Tax or Safeyt1st or Pacific Cycle Inc. products, they keep selling bad batteries and have been recalled thousands of time of the connector or battery. I have not heard allot of bad things with Prego.
