Personally I think the prices that you paid for the new TXV and dryer are VERY far out of line.Get what information you can off of the TXV power assembly and valve body along with the manufacturer of the valve and I will see what I can find out for you. If it is the power assembly that is rusted out and leaking there are kits for replacement parts on most valves.

SOURCE: ice cubes are hollow, freezing cycle too short

You don't specify a model number, but if it's one of the CLR series (e.g. CLR60, CLR2060, CLR2160) there is a small tan colored adjustable resistor 'dial' on the small circuit board located just beneath the ice bin, behind the front access panel. It should look like a round disk with teeth and has markings on it for -2, -1, 0, 1, 2.... Turn it up to +1 (or if it is already there, up one setting). Stop and restart the ice cycle. Wait 24 hours and see if that's enough or too much, and adjust further based on that. Do NOT adjust more than 1 setting in a day, per the user's manual. (And this information is IN the user's manual, so it's suggested reading.) If you don't have a CLR-series unit, then I don't know.

SOURCE: I have a scottsman ice

Hi.

An inlet valve is tested disconnecting it and reading Ohms at its terminal. If the valve read open circuit, then the solenoid is broken and valve is broken. Ordinary inlet valves stay closed when there is no power. The valve may also be mechanically faulty. In that case the valve is fully tested by energizing it directly and observing it is opening and closing.

Check manual here at page 21 to find out how to access the valve.

If valve is OK, then problem is likely the autoIQ controller, more parts may need testing.

To get the replacement parts you can contact Scotsman, here direction:

SOURCE: MY SCOTSMAN ICE MACHINE CO33O FREEZING CYCLE IS TOO SHORT AND IS MAKING THIN ICE

There is usually a sensor that the cubes will touch after the cubes thickness builds to a certain point. This sensor should be adjustible.

How do I adjust bridge thickness on ice o matic

Adjust the Timed freeze. The freeze timer is an adjustable timer used to control the ice bridge thickness. The freeze timer is factory set but may need to be adjusted upon initial start up of the machine. When time is added to the freeze timer the length of the freeze cycle is increased, therefore the ice bridge thickness is increased. When time is removed from the timer, the freeze is shorted and the ice bridge thickness is decreased. The freeze timer can be adjusted by sliding one or more switches to either the ON or OFF position to 1/8'' ( 3mm ). If bridge is too thick remove enough time from the timer to achieve proper thickness. If bridge is to thine add enough time to timer to achieve proper thickness.
NOTE: The freeze timer on ECP models is located on the circuit board. It operates and is adjusted as described above. Now if you have had this machine for awhile and it was making the right bridge thickness and is now making thinner ice i would look at the purge valve to make sure it is not letting water seep out of the sump tray during freeze cycle this will cause the sump tray to keep filling up with water and will cause thin ice.

Scottsman SCE170A-1B how can i have to make ice faster

The only way to make ice faster for this machine is done with cooler ambient room temperature and colder water temperature from supply water before it reaches water sump tray.

How things work

i think this is a scottsman commercial ice mach.
it works by the control board and the little timer motor loacted on the circuit board. at the end of the freeze cycle the timer activates the fill valve to let fresh water in for the next cycle. it stops when the cam on the motor lifts against the micro sw located on the timer motor.

Short freeze

Ice is to thin. Check to make sure water inlet valve is not letting water go through valve during freeze cycle. Make sure condenser coil is clean and condenser fan is running. Check the hot gas valve to make sure it is not bypassing during freeze cycle.

Scotsman ICE MACHINE SHOWS NUMBER 6 IN DISPLAY

does it look like "6" or "b" , the "b" just indicates the ice bin is full. If the unit is not making ice, check the curtain on the outlet of the ice making coil to see that it is not stuck open. There is no listed "6" error code in the service manual.

Check valve

If you are asking about the valve to the left of the water pump, it is used to dump water when the unit pumps the water out of the sump to keep sediment out. If it is bad, the unit will have short freeze cycles as the the valve is leaking water out causing the float to drop prematurely and causing small cubes and short freeze cycles.

wave your hand infront of bin eyes if the bin full light doesnt blink the machine is not reading the ice fall during harvest and will cause it to kick out. basically it thinks its not making ice.

2 problems one water escaping to the drain freeze cycle short

first, freeze cycle too short because you are loosing water. Water may be leaking thru the dump valve. Look at drain while machine is running and see of alot of water is draining. The dump valve spring may be week or there is trash in the dump valve preventing it from seating properly. drain water first before pulling dump valve apart.

English instructions for saivod fhs186 ice maker

DO THE BASICS:
Change the water filter
Add ice machine cleaner and go by the directions.
What should be kept clean?
There are 5 things to keep clean:
1. The outside cabinet & door.
2. The ice storage bin.
3. The condenser.
4. The ice making system.
5. The ice scoop.
The ice storage bin should be sanitized
occasionally. It is usually convenient to sanitize the
bin after the ice making system has been cleaned,
and the storage bin is empty.
A sanitizing solution can be made of 1 ounce of
household bleach and two gallons of hot (950F. -
1150F.) water. Use a clean cloth and wipe the
interior of the ice storage bin with the sanitizing
solution, pour some of the solution down the drain.
Allow to air dry.

How to clean the condenser.
The condenser is like the radiator on a car, it has
fins and tubes that can become clogged. To clean:
1. Remove the kickplate.
2. Locate the condenser surface.
3. Vacuum the surface, removing all dust and lint.
Caution: Do not dent the fins.
4. Replace the kickplate.
Winterizing
1. Clean the machine as explained on the next
page.
2. Turn off the water supply.
3. Drain the water reservoir. See page 24, Spray
Pump Repair and follow the instructions to remove
the pump hose (step 2, bottom hose only).
4. Disconnect the incoming water line at the inlet
water valve.
5Remove control box cover and turn the timer
into the harvest cycle.
6. With the machine operating, blow air through
the inlet water valve; a tire pump could do the job.
7. Drain pump models should have about 1¤2 gallon
of RV antifreeze (propylene glycol) poured into the
ice storage bin drain.
Note: Automotive antifreeze must NOT be used.
8. Replace control box cover. Switch off and
unplug the machine.

CUBE ADJUSTMENTS
There are three items that may be adjusted: Cube
Size, Harvest Time, and Bin Level. Note: Cube
Size and Harvest Time adjustments should only be
done by a qualified service person.
Cube size control.
The cube size control should only be adjusted to
bring the cubes to the correct shape, the overall
size cannot be adjusted. Try to adjust the cube
size control when the ice machine is in the harvest
cycle, or in the first 10 minutes of the freeze cycle.
1. Open the door and remove the control box
cover.
2. Locate the cube size adjustment screw, and to
make fuller cubes, turn the screw clockwise about
1/4 turn. This will make the freezing cycle longer.
3. To shorten the freezing cycle and make cubes
that are not as full, turn the adjustment screw 1/4
turn counterclockwise.
4. After the next freezing cycle, the cubes should
have responded to the adjustment, if another
adjustment is required, do it early in the freeze
cycle.
