My router is set up correctly; however, i lose connectivity within about 25 minutes of being connected and online. when i try to reconnect, i am unable to connect and i cannot get connected without resetting the router and the modem.

Who is your service provider? I recently got FIOS, and had a similar problem. It turned out that there was a "patch" that was not readily available. If you have FIOS, try this - copy and paste the info below into notepad. Save it as FIOSfix.reg, then double click and say "yes" when it asks if you want to add it to the registry.

Do you know how to access your router's setup page? If yes then setup the MTU on your router, for DSL use 1492, for Cable use 1500/1400/1300 (try which one will be best for you). If this may not work you may want to directly connect your computer to the modem and test if the connection there is stable.

If you do not know how to access the router's setup page, please provide me this information,what is the model number of the router and the operating system of your computer. Is your computer wired or wireless? is there a wired computer?

If the signal is too weak the connection will be unstable. If you have a lot of wireless routers in your neighborhood it could be affecting your connection. Everything will work fine then the neighbor turns on his equipment and you lose your connection. Try switching the router to a different channel. Try channel 11.

Enthernet cannot connect


Hello,

There are many reasons why this might be happening.. You could try the following steps..


First Check if you are able to go online on modem..if not disconnect the power from the modem adn connect it back after a minute. If its still not connecting contact your Internet service provider. If you able to go online with modem please follow the below steps.


1) Disconnect the power from router for a minute and reconnect and check.
2) Try on different slots on the oruter if its wired. If wireless is the issue then try changing channels and network name.
3) Check if there is an firmware update for your product and update if any update is available.
4) If none of the above steps work you will need to reset and re-config your router. ( For that you need the CD given with the router and you will need the ISP settings.)

Try to change the wi-fi channel to another one. Sometimes, due to interference with other wireless devices, there are these problems. Also try to use a network cable to connect at the router to locate if the internet connection with the modem is still available when the wi-fi blocks out.

Password not working


This is usually a problem with not remembering the correct password. Quickest path to resolution is to reset the router (usually a small pin-hole that you stick something like a straightened paper clip into). Once the router is reset see if you can connect without a wireless password. Go online for only a minute and see if you can connect to google.com. Don't go wandering all over the internet, your router is unprotected at this point. If you can successfully get to google through the wireless connection without a password, unplug the internet cable (the cable between the router and the wall, modem, whatever). Using your PC browser go to the router setup menu - usually putting 192.168.1.1 in the browser address field and pressing enter works, but if that doesn't work you'll need to check the Linksys web site for the correct ip address. Locate the password setup menu and configure the settings. Note that once you set up the password your wireless connection will be disconnected and you'll have to reconnect to the router using the new password. An alternative is to connect the pc to the router with an ethernet cable during the password menu setup steps.

If you have a 3G phone in the house, It operates at the same frequency and is a nono.

If not I would suggest you completley rest modem and re-enter U/N, P/W etc and set up secure network also. If still a problem, maybe faulty modem.

How to connect router


Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Msg. conntected with limited access


Try this.

Unplug the Router.
Unplug the modem.
Wait about 15-20 secs.
Reconnect the modem.
wait about a minute or until all the lights are solid on the display.
Reconnect the Router.
Wait about another minute until everything is given time to start up.
Try connecting again.

If it still does that, it may be a problem with your computer that your trying to access with wirelessly.

My mother had that problem on one of her laptops, it turned out that her particular installation didn't support WPA or WEP incryption. I did a full reinstall and now it works.

If you want to avoid a full reinstall you can try uninstalling the wireless network card, then reinstalling it.(Make sure you go to your manufacturers web site first to download the proper driver for your model)

Cannot acquire network address from access point


then it seems thatb the wireless security key for your network is incorrect, make sure if you are entering the key correctly..
or else..
check if you are able to go online with the router wired first, if yes, then the w/ls settings has to be checked..open your w/ls network connection, remove your preferred wireless network and then try to reconnect again and check.. if you are not able to gon online wired with the router, disconnect power cables from modem- router , wait for 10 sec, and reconnect it , wait till all the lights come up and then reconnect, check if you are able to go online if not your router has to be reconfigured,,

plz check and revert back in case of any issues
