Who is your service provider? I recently got FIOS, and had a similar problem. It turned out that there was a "patch" that was not readily available. If you have FIOS, try this - copy and paste the info below into notepad. Save it as FIOSfix.reg, then double click and say "yes" when it asks if you want to add it to the registry.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters]

"DefaultSendWindow"=dword:0001fe78
"DefaultReceiveWindow"=dword:000ff3c0

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]

"Tcp1323Opts"=dword:00000001
"SackOpts"=dword:00000001
"TransmitWorker"=dword:00000020
"EnablePMTUDiscovery"=dword:00000001
"TcpMaxDupAcks"=dword:00000002
"TcpUseRFC1122UrgentPointer"=dword:00000000
"DefaultTTL"=dword:00000030

Do you know how to access your router's setup page? If yes then setup the MTU on your router, for DSL use 1492, for Cable use 1500/1400/1300 (try which one will be best for you). If this may not work you may want to directly connect your computer to the modem and test if the connection there is stable.

If you do not know how to access the router's setup page, please provide me this information,what is the model number of the router and the operating system of your computer. Is your computer wired or wireless? is there a wired computer?

I have a Dell Studio One 19 All-In-One desktop computer. Day in and day out I have successfully been able to connect (wirelessly) in order to access the internet. (We have AT&T wireless router). ...

If you have anything you could try the internet on and see if it happens to that machine as well, that will help you narrow it down.

If it does effect the other machine, it's likely your router.
To narrow further whether it's your router or potentially your modem, plug in your computer to a network cable and straight to your modem. See if you have the disconnection issue now that you're not wireless.

If the issue is only isolated to your machine, while you're wireless...it's likely your card.

And....as always, run some virus software to ensure people aren't just making stuff to make your life harder.

I can't watch videos online when I'm connected wirelessly with my Dell labtop(vista) to a belkin g router. The videos upload for about a minute then suddenly stop. What settings can I change to fix this.

Possibly a weak signal, I suppose you have all the codecs installed correctly, flash and so on.

Try moveing closer to the station. Also you can try changeing the speed settings of the connection in the modem setup.

Xbox live connection keeps dropping

It can either be your internet connection, your adapter cable, or your router. I have had lots of problems with my internets router and I have Linksys so if you have that same type it might just be the routers connection. Did you try hooking up your 360 straight to your internets modem? My fiance does this with his 360 because he has had problems with the router and the connection. Maybe try to disconnect your router it and let it sit for a couple of minutes and then reconnect it and let it reset before you reconnect it to your 360. Also you may want to call some type of support either for your internet or your router. They may be able to help in some way. It seems like everyone I know has gone through at least one 360 system. We had to just replace ours also after having it for under a year. The only system that I haven't heard complaints about is the 360 elite but the price is too much for us to get one. Anyway good luck and hope I helped a little bit.

It says that my wireless is connected, but I cannot get onto the internet

I found that drivers of the wireless card may not work with the latest drivers of the router. As was in my case. I updated my router. All good. Updated my wireless drivers on laptop, I see network but can not access it (Dell says they are still working on it). However, I could connect to other wireless connections. So it was the Dell card for sure.
Did you recently update any drivers? Maybe try rolling back. If not, maybe try updating them and the router.

Every 5 minutes my comtrend CT-5071T keeps loosing

I think the router has to be reprogrammed but first we chall check for other related errors.First of all assuming that your PC is in perfect state and had been checked to be trouble free you can open up the router. Look out for any dry soldering or dirt within. clean and solder them using a low wattage iron very carefully not to jump any solder joints. Clean the terminals of the router and reconnect. Check also on the poweer connection for any loose connections of the DC or main.When the set cuts off check if there is any power disruption of the source. If you have not checked your PC please check for virus ,using a good antivirus scan,erase all temperory files, cookies, history, or restore to an earlier set point. please give me a feedback if this helps you out. Good day

Go to your internet options and make sure under connections it is set correctly. If this is not set you won't be able to get online.

Can't enable LAN or Wireless Ntwk Connections

Hello,
I believe that all you really had to do was just unplug the router for a few seconds then reboot it and try again to connect to it. I've a few routers that for no apparent reason just go off-line wirelessly and that would fix it. You also could just check it's settings to verify it is configured correctly before rebooting it.

Formatting your hard drive was a bit in the wrong direction and a needless process.

Good Luck

I have loaded the software for a WRT54G2 on the new desktop. As instructed the data for setting up my laptop was saved to a jump-drive and installed successfully on my laptop. When I try to get online...

The only problem here is the WEP/WPA key ios not correct , so better double check the key and try tp reconnect to the wireless network..

Hope that helps.........

I will be on line when all of a sudden it says internet explorer has stop working.It happens over and over. please help thank you ssuzannasuzie@verizon.net

well suzie, there are a lot of areas you want to check on about that issue. try to check the following:

check your modem, check if the ONLINE light is lit. if not as a remedy unplug the power from the unit, wait for about 30 seconds to a minute then plug it back in.

check if other computers can go online from the modem, if they can you may want to restart your computer to refresh the connection

if you have a wireless connection at home:

make sure that you are within range of the wireless router

make sure that your wireless computer is connected to the right network.

as a remedy, just restart the wireless router and your computer.

I am disconneted from the internet i have already spoken to my internet provider and also my laptop company they are telling me that the promblem is that my router is not connecting

i would suggest unplugging the power from the router waiting 10 secs and reconnecting and seeing if this fixes your problem if not , do a cold reset hold down the reset button on the router usually for a few seconds and then go ahead and re-input all the settings that you need.

If this still isn't working i would assume that you try this router on another working network and see if it can connect if not , i would think that the router is losing its routing tables and is unable to route past your own LAN , the best solution for this is to invest in a new router.

Thanks!
