Question about Sharp AR-168S Copier

I have a Sharp 168S copier/printer/fax and replaced the toner cartridge with a remanufactured cartridge. I made approx. 100 copies then it gave a U2-40 system error and would not print. I replaced the toner cartridge again with a new Sharp cartridge and the error went away but now I am getting a maintenance needed-call for service message. What could this be?

Try taking the toner out and shake it gentle, then reinstall the cartridge. If that does not work, you may have a bad toner cartridge.

Just purchased a Zerox XC1255 Copier at an Auction. Replaced the toner cartridge because the light was on. The copies seem to have excessive toner in the background of the copies. I am wondering if I...


Could be a bad drum unit. Is the new toner cartridge a refilled? Remanufactured? or Brand New Xerox brand toner? If it is refilled or remanufactured I would run some copies and give it a chance to clear. Sometimes they end up with too much toner in the Developer mix and can be overtoned which causes a general background over the whole page. They should clear up as you run copies, say within 100 pages. Also try manually lightening the copy with the exposure control on the operation panel. If lightening the copy clears all of the background then you need to have the optics cleaned. There are 4 mirrors under the large original glass that need to be cleaned. If all this fails then you are looking at either drum unit or a defective or out of balance toner/developer cartridge.

Odds are that you have a bad toner cartridge; especially common when using remanufactured cartridges. (Staples, Corporate Express, etc.) Replace your cartridge with an OEM HP cartridge and you should be OK.

I have an older Sharp AR-168S printer with U2-40 error code.


U2-40 CRUM communication error

Detail-Toner cartridge CRUM data read
error

Cause-A toner cartridge of a different
destination is installed.
EEPROM trouble
Check the destination setup.
Toner cartridge CRUM PWB trouble
MCU PWB trouble
CRUM connector disconnection

Check and
remedy-
Install a specified toner cartridge.
Check the SIM 26-6 setup.
Replace the EEPROM.
Replace the toner cartridge.
Replace the MCU PWB.
Check connection of the CRUM
connector.
Execute SIM 16.

Error code F2-04. Have replaced cartridge but to no avail for the Sharp Model # AR 168S Copier.


Try this solution I found on an other site.

In a Sharp MX-M450N copier this is due to improper cartridge.

The reason for the error code is of course due to an incorrect toner cartridge being used on the copier. You can turn the copier off, but it will not flush from memory. in order to correct the issue perform the following:

1. Turn the printer off
2. Remove the incorrect toner cartridge
2. Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
4. Plug the Printer back on
5 Turn the printer back on

You will see the message change to another message requesting to insert the toner cartridge.

6. Insert the old or new correct toner cartridge into the copier.

Hp 3550 not reading toner


Initially check the silver metal parts on sides of toner are not covered with any plastic tapes, then also check that the spring for earthing on the right side of toner is fitted properly.
Also clean the inner parts of printer which comes in contact with cartridge sensing assembly and then reinsert the toner.also unplug and replug-in the printer power cord once if necessary to reset the printer.

I believe you asked the same question before.... Make sure the waste toner cover / plug is removed and that you shook the cartridge to loosing the toner. You may have recieved a bad or defective toner cartridge...Good Luck

Sharp AR 168s cant fax


If the fax kit is installed you will see the phone ports on the back. If no ports then you don't have the fax kit. It was not standard in the 168s

You are right about the cartridges having a seal. These toner remanufacturing companies are known as TONER PIRATES, they don't change the drum or cleaning blade, they just dump in toner.

Try wiping the inside with STRETCH AND DUST cloths before you put the new cartridge in.

If that doesn't work, I have to recommend that you get it cleaned, as the spilled toner will blow straight through a regular vacuum.

please open right cover and out in your toner box you saw a screw is open and turn in fornt developer unite open your drum unite
