Question about Philips 42PF9966 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
Image corruption in the buffer of the image processor, it's failing. Yes, it could be caused by overheating, but my guess is that it's the processor itself who is faulty, i've had several units of this type on my hands with the exact same defective part.
You must take the tv to an authorised repair shop, finding parts for it elsewhere is practically impossible.
