Question about Fujitsu LIFEBOOK T4020 Tablet PC

1 Answer

Fujitsu T4020D does not boot. Leading up to this, 1. fan got noisy, 2. when booting failed, I could access the BIOS, but can't anymore, 3. screen is now blank with no BIOS , beeping, etc 4. the LCD panel indicates battery, but no HDD icon. If this can't be fixed, I am considering a replacement, but there is a BIOS password that needs to be cracked. Is this possible?

This is helpful and supplied me with leads to address the second part of the problem... Plan B as it were. As the conditions remain mysterious that led to needing a replacement (no impacts, etc.). This seems to be the way to go. I will try to update once I have a replacement in hand.

Hello,
It is possible that your laptop has faced some kind of impact. Don't worry things can be managed.
Now that you want to replace your laptop, clearing whose bios password depends upon the model of bios which is Phoenix in your case. Ok, let's start it.
There are two ways to approach forcing the Bios/CMOS to be reset to its default values: Option #1: Mechanically, by removing all power to the Bios/CMOS thereby forcing it to reset itself to its stored defaults, which include no password or the default password employed by the Bios manufacturer, and Option #2: Using a program to either locate and identify the password and reveal it to you or erasing the password entirely. These are referred to as password by-pass utilities or cracks. Let's look at Option #1 first, and then move on to Option #2 if necessary.

I am giving you a link where you will get text written by me and my friend to help you out. What I have written above is linked to the llink under.

Clearing the BIOS or CMOS password.

I am also attaching the Phoenix BIOS guide 's link to help you know more about your BIOS.

Know about your BIOS.

Here is one more link that will guide you to reset the BIOS password if the above doesn't work.

Link 2 to reset BIOS password.

Hope you can do all this mess with your machine.

Keep me informed if you want to do something else or what happens.
I am following up.
Have a nice day.

Regards.

When you boot your computer, start up your BIOS, then under the boot menu, make sure USB is listed as the 1st option.

To log into your BIOS, press the "Boot Option" key. It might be F1, F2 or Delete

Cmos reset

I have not specifically worked on this make/model of computer.

Technically, you cannot reset this ... I think what you are asking is how can your modify the settings. Typically one would press F2 or F8 or F11 to enter the setup during the boot process. It may be a different F key, it should flash on the screen when you boot.

You could disconnect the battery back up if you can locate it. ..This will remove any custom setting, but will not let you get back in to change it unless you find the correct F key to press.

On the other hand ... there are no more than 12 F keys. You should be able to find the proper one.

If this doesn't work, you should go to www.fujitsy.com/support for assistance.

Thanks for visiting today.

No display. The tablet powers on, ut the screen is not showing anything. I also had a cooling fan attached via usb and while the display problem began, the cooling fan is not longer powering on via the...

From what I"m reading in your notes it seems to me that you are having a board issue lights out. No power to the USB as well as dark screen try pressing F8 and during a reboot. If you are able to get to the BIOS set the BIOS to boot from CD or DVD as the first boot option under boot section order in most cases it is already the default setting.
Also place the system recovery disc in the drive then go ahead and do a repair first. Then if this does not solve it then do a full install if you cannot even get to this part of it then I'm afraid it is more than likely the board went bad on you. I suggest this one goes to the shop for a review and let them handle it. It is defiantly a connection failure on the board. I really hate to say it. One last ditch would be to let it cool down completely for a while see if it turns on again after cooling. I have had that happen for me many times. I hope she comes back to life for you. John

Won't get past boot screen- says- resource conflict-PCI on Mainboard

Just as it finishes POST and the BIOS screen goes to allow boot up press F8 and boot in safe mode.
When you are in safe mode, go into Control Panel then Device Manager and see which ones conflict. Double click on one of the conflicts and the sub menu will let you automatically find a new address avoiding the conflict.
Close down. Re boot
Hope that helps.

POST 1 long 2 short beeps and no other boot action. What does this post mean

This means that the BIOS was unable to access the video system in order to write any error messages on your screen. This problem is usually caused by the video card encountering hardware failure or the memory of the video card failing and/or sometimes the motherboard itself.
