Question about Uniden Cordless Phone
The charger (plugs into the wall) will not charge my Uniden TRU888. The phone will charge when I put it on anotehr charging base. How do I replace the charger? or repair it?
Hi, the problem is going to be with the charger itself the chances are it has over heated now as for getting spare parts for these phones you may have a bit of a problem, the only place that may be able to get you a replacement charger is somewhere like Maplin if you have one of them near you take your old charger with you and they should be able to match you one up.
if you dont have a Maplin near you then have a look in your phone book for electronic repair shop.
Now their is no way of repairing the charger as they are a sealed unit and their is no way of getting the parts to replace any that could be damaged.
Could you just check if the charger wire can come out of the base if its just a push fit into the base then any electronic repair shop could get you a new charger for it but if its connected to the base and dont pull out then the problem is you would need to buy a whole new phone just to get the base.
One option you have is try looking on the well known auction site and you might find that you can buy a replacement off their for next to nothing so thats where i would look first.
the problem is with this kind of product they are just not made to be repaired they are just thrown away and replaced it would cost more than the phones worth to have it repaired, so if the charger unplugs out of the base then you should be able to get a replacement adaptor for it as a good electronic shop should stock chargers that put out the same charger as yours so check if it unplugs from the base, if not then the auction site would be my next try and getting another base, but other than that your going to find it impossible to repair as know one will touch them as it cost more than the phones worth to repair.
im sorry their is no easy fix but with todays throw away culture they just dont make the parts to repair these kind of products which i think is a shame as most will carry on working for ages after the repair was dont, but due to the low cost of replacing the whole phone its just not worth repairing it would just cost to much
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
