I have a problem with my PS3. when i turn it on nothing appears on my monitor, even tough it is plugged in correctly. The problem first appeared about a month ago. Back then it was rare that it wouldn't show anything on the screen, but it continued to get worse until now. now i have to try over and over again, without any results, and when the PS3 finally gets the picture on the monitor, it freezes after a couple of minutes. Im quite sure it isn't my monitor that has broken, because i've tried another ps3, and there was no problem whatsoever. Don't know is this has anything to do with the problem, but 2 months ago i replaced the Blu-ray optic, because the old one was broken. MY PS3 is the old model (fatty), 40GB - one of those that can play PS1 AND PS2 games.

Hello,

I will advice you try this steps to fix the problem,
Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable
Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on with switch. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps. Your ps3 should automatically reset.

I will suggest you also try this, 1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System. Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default. Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files. Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3. Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch. System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System. This should fix the problem.

Take care.

My son's playstation 3 has power going to it, the hdmi is new. The disc appears to be moving in the ps3 but nothing is appearing on the screen. All connectors are in correctly.

That happens when you change tv.
Unlpug it and wait for 30 seconds.
Plug it back. The red red light that indicates that the ps3 is off should be on.
The light must be red(turned off)
Now do this:

PRESS and HOLD the power button for 5-6 seconds untill you hear the second beep

There you go

PC boots for seconds then NOTHING APPEARS SCREEN

Check to see if you have inadvertently hit the CRT button which turns off your screen to turn on an externally connected screen even if there is no external screen plugged in. OR you could have a bad (Back-light) or (Inverter)

My ps3 doest display anything nor makes any sounds please help

Just a gander, but your PS3 may be set for HD output thus not displaying on your non HD television, your best bet in this case is to find an HD television, friend, coworker, etc, connect to it and switch the settings back to regular. Also if I understand correctly leaving the ps3 completely unplugged for 72 hours may also reset all settings. Good luck!

I turn on my ps3 but nothing appears on tv

Maybe u have the wrong cables hooked up if your tv does not have HDMI hook up then you are forced to use the cables that came with it. Make sure that they are correctly hooked up it should be color coded.

Dell 1702FP 17" shows nothing after Radeon HD 2600 put in.

Is the card plugged into the (PCI/AGP) slot correctly? Did you disable the onboard video in the bios? Also be sure to check in windows device manager and check for the graphics card to appear there.
