Buy a gasket that fits your door exactly.

Step 2
Soak the new gasket in hot water in the sink to make it pliable.

Step 3
Make sure the refrigerator is level.

Step 4
Find a nut driver that will fit the screws holding the old gasket in place and lay out your tools where you'll be able to reach them.

Step 5
Start at the top outside corner of the door and fold the old gasket back as you partly loosen the screws along half of the top and side. Don't loosen them all the way.

Step 6
Pull the old gasket out.

Step 7
Attach the new gasket by pushing it beneath the metal retainer and tightening the screws as you go.

Step 8
Replace each section the same way.

Step 9
Shut the door and check for gaps. The seal should lie straight and smooth all the way around the door.

Step 10
Notice if there are gaps between the gasket and the frame - this may indicate that the door has warped. (Fix it by loosening the screws and twisting the door a little. You may have to do this a few times before you get the door straight.)

Step 11
Put a flashlight in the freezer pointed toward the opening and shut the door. Turn off the lights. You shouldn't see any light leaking through.

Good luck and hope this helps............

Water drops under top door always!

That is strong indication that the magnets inside of the door gasket(s) are weak and aren't holding tight to the door to seal it. The door gasket(s) need to be replaced.

Amana Refrig - model number BG21VW - Need door gaskets top and bottom.

I dont believe Fixya sells parts, they are just a help forum. You should contact your local appliance parts retailer and order it there.

I installed a new magnetic seal on my Amana refrigerator. The new seal has been sitting in its box for about ten years. After installation, I realize it has lost its magnetism. Can I rejuvenate it somehow?

No. Never heard of this happening. Make sure that the door stop at the bottom hinge is not bent and keeping the door from shutting all the way. I've seen this alot. Also, if you soak the gasket in hot water for 15 minutes or so, it will soften it up and lay flat when you install it.

Frost forms on top of food in my freezer (top of refrigerator)...even inside sealed bags of items like microwave Stouffer's, etc. Sometimes up to 1/4" thick! No frost on inside of freezer though. ?????

This excess frosting can be caused by leaky door gaskets, frequent door opening, dispenser door not closing good, anywhere air can get in. Gaskets should hold a dollar bill sung all the way around both doors.

Freezer light out??

Door switches normally use the neutral so having nothing there may not be unusual. You should be able to check the resistance on the door switch (with the power off***). As long as you have zero resistance through the switch (when fully extended, ie. door open), it will be OK. I would definitely buy another bulb first as wiring issues are unusual, these things are normally well built. Good attitude over living without a light because it sounds like you have checked most things, however I know I couldnt. Hope this helps.

Amana BX22RW Freezer Compartment Icing

Ya hit it right on the head. Sounds like a classic "pulling in moisture" problem. See if you can seal that air leak any way you can. That moisture can freeze up air channels and block the refer compartment from getting cool air from the freezer compartment eventually.
