My Pixma iP5200 will not recognize a Staples compatible canon cli-8 cartridge. Any ideas?

Sometimes this happens with the "compatible" cartridges, I would go back and purchase another, and if that one does not work you might be stuck purchasing the genuine cartridges from Canon.

All nozzles are fine except the yellow which does not print out at all in the test. I've cleaned and deep cleaned to no avail

Try flushing the yellow channel with cleaner with syringe. The cleaning function will not dislodge a blockage if it is severe. You will have to recharge the channel with yellow afterwards. You can probably do this with a refill kit.

When refilling canon ip4500 cartridge they still show empty

I'm sorry you got that STUPID answer first. The Canon cartridges you use have a chip or small circuit board on the bottom front. You have to either reset that chip or get the reset chips from the place you get your ink. That little chip tells your printer how much ink has been used and once they are empty refilling doesn't help without a new or reset chip.

Pixima i4500 not able to use refilled inks

You can't reset the machine but the place where you buy ink should have the reset chips, or a chip resetter device that will reset the ink carts so you can refill them and use them in your printer.

How to refill ip4500 ink cartridge

Google is your friend...

1.There are various ways to refill but the most popular or easily recognisable is the Durchstich German method...

2. In terms of the cartridge chips you will need a chip resetter which again can be found by searching... Another popular brand name is "redsetter".

3. Refilling can damage your printer, especially if you disable ink monitoring rather than using a chip resetter, or fail to fill the cartridge properly.

Various things can go wrong like an unsealed air hole allowing an air leak, emptying the ink contents into the printer..

As with all things, your mileage may vary and the most successful refillers are those who read as much as possible on the subject, get the right tools and are patient.

Good luck.

Cartridge refill

The printer is made for the ink cartridges to be replaced. Some drill a small hole in the top and fill it for there. Any area of the top, where you can make and cover the hole will work. Yes. I would use that ink.The worst that will happen is that it will be too thick or thin and not print properly. You would know that soon enough.
