Blue screen error may generally appear for three important reasons : 1.If you system is infected with some viruses and your hard drive has bad sectors in it.
2. If your memory card has gone bad or not properly pluged.
3. The OS has gone corupt due to virus attack.....

Resolution: 1. Go ahead and do a complete format on your hard drive and then install the OS, i.e., Win XP.
2.Try replacing your Memory Card in your system.
3. Change your hard drive or conatct Geek Squad @ 1-800-433-5778 for data recovery.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :-

Unmountable boot volume blue screen for a laptop dell d610. How can i fix problem?

Just reinstall the operation system form scratch ...if this is not a physical issue ..this will fix the problem ..You will have to have a boo-table disk with the operation system ..and all the drivers saved for it from the Dell support site ...just in case you do not have them on disk ..
If you have a operation system recovery partition or disk ..you may use it too...but remember that some recovery disks do not contain the operation system bu just the specific programs and drivers for the brand and model ..and it is logical why I wold go for a boot-able disk with the operation system ..and a clean install by booting from disk ...and also formatting the hard disk C partition during the installation process ..This way you will end up with a clean install ..and you will need to install all drivers..and programs you usually use....but you will be sure that all bugs are gone and the issue will not appear again..
If this is not a software problem ...it can also be caused by the ram memory being corrupted or the hard disk being issued...cause the blue screen is usually a memory fault ..and do not point the issue exactly ...can be from a missing file which will not let windows to boot up proper..pr ..from a virus that will interfere ..or from a issued ram memory unit ..or a hard disk with BADs on it ..
If reinstalling will not fix the problem you will have to take in mind the other factors of physical nature..

My laptop Dell Inspiron 1545 giving a hard disk drive error. Laptop works normal but sometimes it start producing a sound like tik,tik,tik......... then blue screen appears and when i run diagnostic it...

Its time you backup your data and contact Dell to get your hard drive replaced (in case your computer is in warranty) else order for a new hard drive compatible with your computer.

You will need your Windows CD that came with your computer, if you did not get it contact Dell about the same.

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Sir, there may me many reasons behind this, this issue is well known as XP BSOD (XP Blue Screen Of Death), in shorts the OS crashes due to any malfunctioning in the hardware unit, now as you are saying that the Hard-disk is not working normally, this may be the bottle neck. What I'll recommend you IF you are a bit proficient in Computers, try unplugging the Hard-disk and then plugging it back in, and also note some odd media noise coming out from the disk if any. If the problem still prevails then don't try any thing again and again, because like this you may loose the probability left in recovering any data from the Disk. Better place some other Hard-disk in to cross check the problem, or/and take it to the nearest computer repair shop.
I hope you will have a bit clearer picture now.

If you think I was of help, your token of appreciation in the form of rating will be esteemed.
Concerned, Nooh

D610 DST Short Status Test Fail

It appears your hard disk has died and it may not be possible for you to retrieve your data.
Remove your hard drive from the laptop and insert it into an USB harddrive adapter, (they are not expensive and you can use it later as a external hard drive). Then plug it into the USB port of a working computer. The computer should/may see it as an external drive, if you are lucky you will be able to copy your data, if not, you are out of luck.
There are companies that can recover data from faulty hard drives, but it will cost you an arm and a leg for their service.

When I turn on my dell c600 laptop, it stays on for about 1 minute then a blue screen appears with a bios error message. How do i fix this?

From the minimal description you provided, it sounds like 1 of two things. Either OS problem/virus/spyware or bad hardware. Try to write down the message generated when the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) appears and google it.

To scan for bad hardware (sounds like it might be a bad hard drive), use the tool Hiren's Boot Disk 9.4. Replace the bad part and then update the system/reinstall windows (if it's the hard drive)
Good luck

Hi CAn anyone Help I have a Dell Latitude D610 When I start up I see the windows xp logo and then the screen go blue Its freezes with the following message... A problem has been detected on your hardrive...

You need to do the following:

test a different RAM module, even if this does not happen frequently a faulty RAM can give same problem.

The problem is more likely a defective system or a faulty hard disk drive.

Try reinstalling Windows, do a full installation with hard disk formatting (do backup of your files first).

If that still does not work, then the hard disk has a faulty sector, replace the hard disk.
