Hi,

Initially, you have to determine what OS and/or version of Windows the laptop used before. This could be determined by looking underneath the laptop. Often, there would be a sticker indicating the Windows version as well the the key numbers. Thereafter, you can borrow an OEM Windows CD installer (same version as shown in the sticker). Upon installation and when required, enter the keys that were indicated in the same sticker. Thereafter, it's a matter of hooking the laptop to the internet via the Ethernet port and going to the laptop's manufacturer's website and download appropriate drivers. In the event that even the drivers for the Ethernet port were not installed automatically by Windows, you need therefore to use a 2nd PC and download the network adapter drivers, copy them to a flashdrive and transfer to your PC.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Will not go pass windows updates stage 3 keeps restarting

Probably a stuck update.
Restart in safe mode (F8) and click on My computer / Hard drive (right mouse click) Under properties, select tools/ check volume for errors, it will schedule a check, reboot and let it check the drive

If this fails, try using system restore to go back to a time before it was updated OR

If you can get into safe mode, review what has been installed recently and uninstall it.

Try updating again

Your antivirus may be preventing the update, yoou could TEMPORARILY disable this and see if that helps

Windows failed to start

It may take you quite a while to figure out how to solve this problem from trial and error. It will take less time if you:

RESTORE
1. Take the hard drive (HD) out of the PC
2. Attach it to an external drive case
3. Attach this to another PC and remove all of your DATA and store it external to the HD
4. Restore the system from scratch using Toshiba's restore tools
5. Put data back on.

You are going to have to repair the Windows installation. If the boot up screen has an option to repair (some systems like Dell and HP provide an hidden partition with the software to allow you to restore the system), use that to repair the installation. If it does not, you will need the Windows disk or system restore disks to fix the installation.

If using a Windows disk, skip the first repair option and do an install. DO NOT FORMAT THE HARD DISK! During the install it will say it found a previous installation and ask if you want to repair, choose the repair option at this time. Using this method, all your applications should remain installed and working. You will need to run Windows Update till it is fully updated.

If using System Restore disks, follow the on screen prompts

How do I start over with my computer toshiba p35 s611 do I have a restore on this model or do I need to format HD and reload XP? I dont have any restore disks.

if you go to "computer" and there is a partition or hard drive showing as "recovery" then you should be able to take your lappy back to its original state.
if not then you will need to format, depending on how old your system is anyway, a format might do some good.

Acer eRecovery for Veriton 7900

Hi,

If you have formatted the hard-Drive you,ve deleted all information from the computer.
your only other option, is to install an operating system ( Windows/Linux ) and check the device manager, to see which drivers need to be downloaded/updated. With Laptops it,s usually VGA ( graphics ) Sound And sometimes LAN/Network drivers.
a recovery cd will have all of this information, and reinstall your original operating system, including authentic product key. so sometimes worth the money.

WD 500 GB resized by Norton Ghost Restore to 120 GB and can not get it to original size.

You should partition your new drive first to say 160Gb (you lose a bit after formatting) for 1st partition and the remaining capacity for the 2nd partition. Because your Ghost image is 120Gb it can only restore to a partition of 120Gb, that is why it shows 120Gb on a 500Gb on a single partition.
You may be able to fix this problem without starting again by using Disk Manager (from Control Panel - Admoinistrative Tools) to create a 2nd partition on the hard drive and format this partition.

Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).
Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.
Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.
Resolving the Problem Resolving a faulty hardware problem: If hardware has been added to the system recently, remove it to see if the error recurs. If existing hardware has failed, remove or replace the faulty component. You should run hardware diagnostics supplied by the system manufacturer. For details on these procedures, see the owner's manual for your computer.
Resolving a faulty system service problem: Disable the service and confirm that this resolves the error. If so, contact the manufacturer of the system service about a possible update. If the error occurs during system startup, restart your computer, and press F8 at the character-mode menu that displays the operating system choices. At the resulting Windows Advanced Options menu, choose the Last Known Good Configuration option. This option is most effective when only one driver or service is added at a time.
Resolving an antivirus software problem: Disable the program and confirm that this resolves the error. If it does, contact the manufacturer of the program about a possible update.
Resolving a corrupted NTFS volume problem: Run Chkdsk /f /r to detect and repair disk errors. You must restart the system before the disk scan begins on a system partition. If the hard disk is SCSI, check for problems between the SCSI controller and the disk.
Finally, check the System Log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help pinpoint the device or driver that is causing the error. Disabling memory caching of the BIOS might also resolve it.

Bad News, serious problem!

Either Operating System is corrupt or Hard Drive defective. First Try REinstalling the Factory Recovery Disk Bios. Open CD rom Trey Place Factory System REstore disk. Turn on Computer and you should see "bood from CD, press any key" . Do so and follow instructions. Remeber to DELETE SECTORS when asked and when prompted select NSFS format. Follow instructions , use common sense and it should work.

If the HD is Defective, it will stop loading and indicate it cannot find HD in an error message.

One other thing. IF when you insert the disk and it boots up and does not go into the restore mode look on bottom of screen for BOOT ORDER and select CD ROM as the first boot. If you dont see that then you have to go into the BIOS and reset BOOT ORDER TO CD ROM FIRST. To get into Bias try tapping down f-2 key as its booting. If that dont work repeat with f-10, f 12 and then Delete button if all else fails. Find BOOT ORDER in BIAs and follow instructions on making CD ROM the first boot device. Then Save and Exit. Reinsert Restore disk and wait until you get the boot from cd rom prompt (process upove).

Unfortunately all data will be lost but computer will work fine.

If the drive is defective it has to be replaced. Write me again if that is the case if you want to do that yourself.

Good Luck

Cheers !
