Hello, I am currently troubleshooting a problem with a HP Model 9050 Printer. It has the optional 2000 Sheet Tray 4 and that is where the problem is. Tray 4 shows that it is out of paper, yet there is paper in the tray. I have psyically watched it lift to the upper position where it stops then shows empty. Lucky for me they have 3 of these printers in one room so I have swapped out everything in tray four and have had no luck. It is set for coustom paper and the config page shows the correct paper size and type but it still shows empty. Possibly my next step will be to set the printer on top of one of the other 2 working tray 4's and see if it works that way, I am wondering if problem is in printer and not the option.

Probably just a bad sensor or dirty sensor causing the issue.
Stacker or stacker/stapler output bins
For the 3,000-sheet stacker or 3,000-sheet stacker/stapler, the output bins are the upper bin (face-up) and the lower bin (face-down).
The upper bin (face-up) is the top bin on the stacker or stacker/stapler. This bin holds up to 100 sheets of paper in face-up order as they exit the printer. A sensor causes the product to stop when the bin is full. Product operation continues when you empty or reduce the amount of paper in the bin.
Lower bin (face-down) is the lower bin on the stacker or stacker/stapler. This bin holds up to 500 sheets of paper and can stack or staple jobs. This bin is the default output bin.
In most cases you will get this type of error when additional trays are installed. If you have installed the 2000 - sheet option, try uninstall it from the printer. If this will clear the error then the small controller board on the sheet option needs replacement. Also, check the power cord of internal power card on the 2000 sheet option tray if its properly inserted. If you don't have the option sheet installed, try removing the trays and verify which one caused the error. If you still get the same error, a replacement of the printers' controller board is needed.
The pad of solinoied become teared & only gum left on solenoied by which on the paper picking proces it fix on the base,by which the picking rooler continious mooves & pick another paper & become jam.so clean that path & remove the gum & paste the tape .your problem will be resolved 100%.
The settings are automatically taken by the printer if you have made the changes required in the tray itself. And as far as the choosing the paper try, you need to make the settings in tray behavior in the printer. And choose the default paper size there.
You need to check the paper types you have assigned and the paper types that users are requesting. Print out a configuration page and make sure that Tray 4 shows as plain paper. If it does not then check all the stops. The 2000 sheet tray 4 units are noted for having the stops not engage and this causes the printer to think that tray 4 is custom media. You can also go into diagnostics and print a paper path test for each tray to ensure that all the trays are working.
This is caused by an option on the printer not be seated correctly or there's a prob. with 2000-sheet feeder option.
Reset power or power the printer off and on.
If this does not resolve the error:
Power the printer off.
Reseat all of the paper feed options on the printer:
Remove all optional drawer options, like a tray 2 or tray 3 drawer, and reposition them from the bottom up.
Reseat the printer on top of the duplex option, if one is installed.
Reseat other options such as the envelope feeder or additional output bins.
2000-sheet feeder option? See below:
Explanation of the Issue
A cable can come loose inside the 2000-sheet feeder option and cause one of the following three conditions to occur:
The printer displays a 982.xx error. NOTE: The .xx extension can be any number.
The printer displays a 990.xx error. NOTE: The .xx extension can be any number.
The printer does not recognize the 2000-sheet feeder option installed.
The issue is with a toroid on one of the cables (see the blue/black wire cable highlighted in the image below). When the 2000-sheet feeder option is moved, the toroid can pull the cable loose, causing an error. NOTE: This toroid was removed in later versions of the 2000-sheet feeder.

Some of the rollers inside the printer have becomes slick with paper dust on the surfaces of the rollers. There is a printer cleaner paper available at most office supply stores and online. It is sticky on both sides. You run a sheet through the printer a couple of times and it removes the dust from the rollers. In your case, run the paper through the duplex unit too.
