Dear seth79

As with any CMOS it ussually takes 2 seconds :) but to be completely sure take 30 seconds at each step.

1. Lifting off the jumper - 30 seconds
2. Bridging the pins indicating by the M/B manual - Another 30 seconds
3. Connecting the jumper to its original location.

Please remember to switch of the computer completely off before doing this. (Even the PSU if possible)
Also ground yourself in order to avoid ESD discharge damage on the components near your fingers.

Regards
EngineerGR

SOURCE: after cmos save display not coming? when clear

If you have cleared the bios (cmos) at the jumpers....must be off the jumper for at least 1 minute! then your problem is the hard drive, either replace it or reinstall your operating system

Open your computer, put out BIOS battery out, put jumper for clearing CMOS in Clear cmos position, put it back after 5 seconds, wait 30 minutes, password should be gone. If not, leave motherboard without battery for couple of hours, or best, over the night.

Changed cpu multiplier from 17 to 19 now have blank screen on foxconn a88gmx, cant reset as cannot access bios

Try clearing the CMOS --- the down side is your lose all your setting --- the up side is you should be
able to access your BIOS

Clear CMOS Jumper: CLR_CMOS1 ( Located near CMOS battery )
The motherboard uses CMOS RAM to store the basic hardware information (such as BIOS data,
date, time information, hardware password...etc.). Clear CMOS data is the fast way to go back to
factory default when the BIOS settings were mistakenly modified.
The steps to clear CMOS data are :
1. Turn off the computer, unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
2. Remove jumper cap from pins 2-3, put it onto pins 1-2 to short them.
This will clear CMOS data.
3. Return the setting to its original with pins 2-3 closed.
4. Plug in the power cord to your computer and turn it on.
5. Go to BIOS Setup to configure new system as described in next chapter.

Computer turns on then shuts off.

Hi there.
Have you tried clearing CMOS? look on the motherboard for the battery, the jumper should be near that and with most motherboards should be marked with "CLR_CMOS" like this >>>>>

If you cannot find the jumper then chances are the board does not have one so to clear the cmos you have to take the motherboard battery out for an hour or so making sure you remove the power cord from the back of the machine, also take out and reseat the memory

Please post back with the results and more help if needed, good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
