Question about HP Officejet Pro L7680 All-In-One Printer

2 Answers

I have a HP Officejet Pro L7680. When I feed docuent from the top feeder the copies have a black line down the right side about two inches from the edge of the paper. If I lay the document down on the glass and make a copy the line is not there. What could be the problem?

Hi,

Is this event consistent? It seems that your document top feeder has a problem and that its feeding the paper improperly or there is in between your paper and the scanner thats why a black line is present, Please try to check and clean the feeder roller for possible obstruction. Worst is your roller is already worn out and needs replacement.

lift up the feeder on top of machine where your big piece of glass is. to the side of that big glass is a small glass about an inch wide. most likely there is something on it. clean and you should be good to go.

Blank line down left side of outgoing fax or feeder copy

The most common cause of blank (void) lines on a scanned document is from whiteout on the glass where the page is scanned when using the document feeder.
If there is a clear mylar sheet on the bottom of the document feeder, the whiteout may be there instead.

If there was dirt or a dark smudge on the glass (or mylar), it would show up as a black line, but whiteout is white, and shows up as a void (blank) line.

Vertical line from document feeder

there is probably a dirt spot on the scanner glass where the document feeds in. try cleaning the thin glass under the document feed cover.

HP office jet feeder won't work when trying to fax

the little pieces of plastic are the sensor flags which is why it will not feed, those are required to let the machine know that the paper is present in the feeder. No flag no feed. Look at the plastic thing try to figure out where it goes in the feeder if you look close, you will see a spot where they go.

Lines appear when making a copy using document feeder tray

If the lines are vertical (in the direction the ADF feeds, 11in long for 8 1/2 by 11) You can try cleaning the glass the scanner uses when it's using the document feeder. Pull up the top left part of the printer where the documents feed, there's a little rib in the middle of the side to help you do this, then simply pull up the assembly underneath with all the rollers in it, you should see about an inch of glass underneath and a centimeter long strip of white plastic on the assembly (this serves as the white background when feeding slimmer papers) Clean them both. I'd recomend any glass cleaner, just don't spray it in there, spray it onto a cloth.
