Sage files are encrypted for obvious reasons.

Unless you saved it from Sage in a different format (eg XLS) then only Sage can read them properly.

I cannot remember ever having seen a sage reader package

If you are unable to logon to Sage you can try deleting the Queue.dta file. All users MUST be logged out of Sage and Sage should not be running. Sage will recreate the queue.dta file when it is restarted. The Queue.dta file can be found in the ACCDATA folder for the Sage Company Data that is experiencing the problem.
Note that the "Username already in use" message from Sage can occur if Sage wasn't shut down tidily for that users session. If you are sure that the user is not actually logged in it's OK to allow Sage to clear the session and log in.

Hi allweatherra

Sage 50 has a file called company. that holds the path to the sage Data. From version 2007 onwards this is held in c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\sage\accounts\2010(or whatever version you have)

Hope this helps

C:\program\SAGE\ACCOUNTS\REPORTS\\*TB.SRT contains an invalid pat

This message usually comes when the target location is not there or is renamed OR the address is wrong. Open My Computer, and go to the address you gave. Look if there is the file named *TB.SRT.

And by the way... the address you gave was "
C:\PROGRAM\\SAGE\ACCOUNTS\REPORTS\\*TB.SRT" BUT I believe that the address should be "C:\PROGRAM\SAGE\ACCOUNTS\REPORTS\*TB.SRT".
It is not possible that the address contains 2 slash (\\) repeatedly. Open the file by going to the My Computer OR by opening the software and by locating the file manually from there.

live chat assistance costs $19.99. And $12.99 for one time e-mail premium support.

If you have a registered product then I would suggest you to visit:
http://support.sage.co.uk/default.aspx?page=1
There you might find a solution at no cost.

Please inform if your problem is solved or not. And please rate if you found the above info useful.

My sage V11.01 has suddenly asked me for my password - can't remember it - does anyone know how I could find out? Can't even access help menu, it won't let me do anything.

The password is encryted as part of the setup.dta file sage or any Sage Business Partner can arrange to have it cleared. You can also try copying in setup.dta from the demodata but please backup your old one first, this option will replace all your user settings though.

Importing Excel file into Act 2006 Version8

My advice is not specific to Sage, but exoprting Excel data.

Check there are no missing/ blank cells within the range, anything that is blank change it to 0.

Make sure the format of your range matches the character length allowed in Sage - Especially for text - if necessary check the no of characters using =LEN(B2) - Assuming B2 contains the text you are checking, where necessary trim the no of characters.

Change your format to CSV if possible, sometimes easier to import.

If you do the above and receive an error message or can narrow down the issue it will give me a better idea of why the import is failing.

Restoring Sage back up file

All the back files that was created is on that other machine even while you may think its on that disk in theory YES but physically NO. Thats why you got this: Error message keeps coming up which is: programfiles\sage\accounts\company.001attachments\nominal\1200\statements\288.pdf Just one more try the disk you used look on it if it has the 288.pdf file you may be able to read it from the PDF software and then recreate it in the sage financial creater?
