Squirt a little gas in the carb, get a new plug in there, see if it will fire, make sure the blade is on, won't run without it. If it won't fire, squirt some gas in the piston itself and try it again. Narrow down the problem. Only so many things will make it not run. Any kill switches, safety switches on it? Check it out.

My Husqvarna model 38096 will not stay running. Cleaned carb, new plug, new gas.

Hi Sonny:
This is the chainsaw section but I think you're playing with a lawnmower, right?
You're saying that it won't stay running. That tells me that it does start, so the spark is OK, and I'd be looking for a fuel delivery problem. Since you cleaned the carb, I'd be looking at a plugged fuel filter or possibly bad fuel.

Have put new fuel pump on ,cleaned carb, new plug, gets gas plug fires but won't start, checked compression at98# don't know what else to do .

The battery voltage on a Suzuki I had would drop low enough during cranking with the electric starter motor not allowing the spark to be strong enough to run, the voltage regulator also didn't function correctly once and as the battery voltage dropped during operation engine would start to bog down and cut out due to low voltage for the ignition system.

Aprilia rs 125 won't start!!

right you done quite a bit, so whats left, fuel seems ok .. so ht lead ht cap, spark plugs dont always come with right gap, any leaks with airflow either side of carb, remember the filter often acts as a restrictor too. try the putting a small amount of fuel in cyclinder after cleaning plug, should atleast get a backfire, is choke setup ok, carb mix if not factory sealed is generally 1 and 3/4 turns out from tight,

Snow Thrower Won't Start. I have a Sears 26" Snow Thrower Model No 247.889702. It will not start. Changed fuel, new spark plug, propoerly primed the engine, tried both pull start and electric star

does it have spark? if you can start it with starting fluid chances are the carb needs a good cleaning or replacement. fuel these days goes bad in about 2 months without stabilisers in it. gums up the tiny passages in the carbs. i suggest seafoam as a treatment but anything is better than nothing...good luck

2006 Honda Shadow won't start. Gas tank filled. Sat 8 mo. Gas leaked out but not into engine. No sign of external leak. into

1. Drain the gasoline.
2. Remove the carb bowl(s) and turn on the petcock to drain the fuel in the lines.
3. Clean out the carb bowl(s) and replace.
4. Refill with gasoline, add 1 oz of Seafoam fuel system cleaner (I'm not a sponsor, I just haven't found anything better) to each gallon of gas. This will stabilize your fuel as well as do a great job of cleaning out the carb(s).
5. Try to start it.

If it still won't start, begin the standard troubleshooting procedure by first pulling a spark plug and turning it over to ensure gas is getting to the cylinder. If so, replace the plug, hold the plug wire slightly away from the plug and turn it over to ensure a spark jumps between the wire and plug. If so, it starts getting complicated. Buy a manual for the bike if you don't have one and follow the troubleshooting steps there.

My ryobi x430 will not start. Replace spark plug and still won't start

hello sir, my machine will only start when pumping primmer bulb or squirting fluid in the carburetor than stops. the fuel line has broken off, in most small carburetors this is a ongoing problem.old fuel will crystallize when left in tank for a long time.plugging up ports, fuel lines, small screen in carburetor.fuel lines will dissolve clogging carb.this is why it will run when the choke is on creating a vaccum to where there is fuel forced in the carb to rum, also the gas will evoporate leaving the oil behind clogging up carb.the thing to do is remove carb. and clean out, replaceing gaskets or fuel line if necessory.use carb cleaner to clean out carb.make sure to make note where fuel line go.the fuel filter broke off of fuel line letting debris get in carb plugging it up.the muffler is known to clog up a lot on these machines where thay want run. the compression should be 60 to 120 lbs any thing below 60 is junk. when adjusting the carb screws turn in all the way than turnout 1 1/4 turns turn in slow untail machine runs also you need to check for spark by removing plug and grounding aginst engine to chech spark, ok.a new spark plug would be a good ideal too , if you are going to make these repairs use new fuel line and filter, hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you, 11

'83 virago xv500k starts right up, runs solid, but

the fuel tap may be causing to problem, if it doesnt turn off it can also flood the engine over night and allow fuel into the sump which then vaporises as it gets hot and the breather allows this fuel back through the air cleaner causing rich mixture

Used to start, but doesn't after sitting for several years. A friend suggested to try adding new fuel, checking/cleaning spark plug and checking oil for a gray hue (which means water present). If gray then...

Hello, yes fuel does go bad. So, I would drain the tank entirely, the carb, change out the fuel filter (if present) and add new fuel. Now, you can take some WD40 and first remove the spark plug then spray some WD 40 into the cylinder (through the spark plug hole). Screw the plug back in and then connect it back up, pull the starting rope and see if the engine fires. It should fire up. This tells us that the ignition system is good. Now you can use this technique to start the engine with the fuel turned on. What you should purchase is some in tank carb and fuel cleaner before you fill the tank and turn on the fuel. There may be some gasoline varnish deposits in the carb that need to be cleaned out. Try all the above, and see if it starts up. If keeping the unit stored for a long time, you can purchase and install some fuel stabilizer for the gasoline.
