Question about Kenmore Refrigerators

Model 106.57789704 - ice wont release into door bin

Kenmore Model 106.57789704 side-by-side - ice won't release into door bin. there is frozen ice in the ice maker. little red light is blinking by the on/off switch inside freezer when door is open. we had power failure a few days ago (in case that matters), but I don't see a Power Outage Reset button on our model.Thank you!

This probably is not what you wanted to hear but... I recommend you to the human manual defrost method to free things up as a result of the ice that built up post power failure. That somewhat messy method being:

1. Unplug the unit.
2. Remove Freezer contents (You do not need to empty fresh food contents)
3. Place a fan blowing into the freezer section for around 2 hours. (Messy part so be ready to tend to the drips with rags & mop)

AFTER 2 HOURS
4. Take a rag or sponge and remove most of the water out of the ice maker as best as you can after the manual defrost.
5. Completely empty the ice bin of all ice or water paying particular attention to the auger making sure there is no ice at all in the auger.
6. Plug in the unit.
7. Reload Freezer contents.

This should get things back to normal. If not there is much more that can be attempted. At this time I really believe that the above procedures will normalize your unit. If and when you need more assistance just respond here I and I will gladly assist you.

Ice guide seems to be broken, how can i remove the cover to access on mod. ed22tqxfnoo.. what will it take to replace it ?? t


I have a Whirlpool side-side freezer-refrigerator model ED22TQXFNOO. When I try to use the ice dispenser in the door. nothing happens. No noise as if the motor is turning the spiral gear to push the ice to the end of the storage bin so the ice will drop in the shute to be dispensed. I cleaned out the storage bin for any build up of frozen chucks of ice. The storage bin is all the way in. There's plenty of ice, but it won't dispense.
(1) Is there a Micro switch in the lever I push to signal the motor to turn?
(2) What inergizes the switch in the back that lifts the bar to let the ice fall into the ice dispenser?

The part where you would press to get ice, well up in side is not releasing the ice and closing back


On mine, using crushed ice will cuase a build up of ice along the shoot. I take off the storage bin and manually open the door cleanining out the shoot. Make sure to check under the removed storage bin before replacing.

I have a GE side by side fridge. Model # GSH22VGRBWW It does not make ice. We was purchasing bagged ice and putting it in the ice dispenser tray and we could get ice now it will not release the ice. You...


Remove the ice bin,with the freezer door open ,press the pin switch at the top of the door opening, then press the ice dispenser ...if the forks on the auger motor rotate its ok... if they dont the motor is frozen

Ice maker will not dispense the ice


The auger motor and coupling in the rear may be frozen and won't turn.
Remove the ice bin.
Place a screwdriver or similar device in the forks of the auger and twist counterclockwise till it moves. The replace the ice bin and try again.
It will be difficult to move.
If that does not work. Turn off the fridge and use a hair dryer to hrat the auger gear and motor till it frees up.

un familiar with model, so am basing this on all the commercial ice makers I repair. Check the temperature probe that goes from the cct board to the ice bin if it has one ( very likely) if corroded where wire enters the stainless cap then is most likely faulty. if it is not registering correctly it can cause the unit to stop producing ice altogether or can also overproduce. It may just be a thermostat instead of a probe and again these are common items to fail. As for no water going into the unit, the solenoid valves that are used are also prone to failure of the coils and so wont open although probes / stats are always the most common fault,

If the plate is frozen solid and has oversized cubes formed, make sure the probe/stat is still attached to the evaporator plate, if it is then it will need replacing as it cant see the ice is formed, so just keeps freezing, never going to defrost to release the ice or trigger the water to come in, again very very common in commercial ice makers.
