My dyson dc25 has reduced suction at the base, suction is fine at the wand

This is a guess but I have experienced it on other vacuum cleaners I have owned.

Check the hose that connects the at the base for breaks. Not just the easy to disconnect one connected to the wand, the one that goes into the head, if you are sure there are no blocks I can only imagine this being a possibility

dyson does offer a 5 year warranty if you have not past this age it might be worth sending out.
Stinks having issues with such expensive devices.

When using brush mode keeps flipping into wand mode

Hi Debra, it's Jack at Dyson.

This issue sounds very unusual - it sounds like the changeover valve mechanism is damaged. However, you may want to double-check that there are no obstructions within the changeover valve which could be preventing it from working correctly. Our video guide will walk you through each step:

If you'd like further help from our experts after giving this a try, you're welcome to contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly. If a repair or a replacement part is needed, our experts will be able to confirm whether this is covered under your Dyson warranty.

Dyson DC28 - when using this in "carpet mode", I can hear and feel tons of suction being pulled through the wand, even though the wand is properly stowed as the handle for "carpet mode". And when this...

There's no switch per sey, but there is a clutch activation knob, on the right side of the base, as you're standing behind the unit. There should be a Carpet or Hard floor setting, just two. Twist it to change from one to the other. However, all this is meant to do, as far as I know, is to turn on the brush roll or turn it off, by means of a clutch system. I don't think it has anything to do with the wand assembly.

Why doesn't the Dyson work at base with brushes

Hi Barbara,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If your machine has suction through the wand, but not through the cleaner head, it's likely that there's a blockage somewhere in the cleaner head. The filter may also need a wash.

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=622&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

This should resolve the issue - however, if you'd like further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US) so we can help.

Kind regards,

Jack

Dyson Dco7 animal not picking up from floor. Checked all connection valves and cleaned filter and brushes. Also check tube for cracks and nothing there. Wand suction is great just almost non on floor...

I would check the "U" shape tube under wand that goes under body of machine. There is a button to release it. I would also check to make sure that your brushes are spinning properly. When you tip the vacuum back the brushes engage. Carefully place your hand on the brushes to see if they stop. If they do then your belt is stretched and you need to replace the clutch assembly. That part is not an easy fix. You can also check the tube that leads from the bottom plate to the housing. It will pop off at the housing with little pressure. Those are the most common places to check. Good luck

Hi my dyson dc18 has great suction from wand but when you got to use the vac for floors little suction but wand still got suction even while vacuming floors is it suposed to stop suction from wand

My Dyson dc18 had the same symptoms. The wand worked well and the floor bar had no suction. After removing pieces & shoving my fingers into the machine (no blockage) I found the suction pipe rotates between two positions (floor and wand). It looks like a piece of plastic broke on the outside housing, so it no longer rotates positions when the wheels are raised or lowered. My son found we can move the suction by sliding a finger into the mechanism behind the wheel cover, and rotating the plastic piece clock-wise or counter clock-wise until it locks into position. It's a big pain but it works for now. I wish I could find a replacement piece online. Patty

A Dyson dc 17 Animal and the wand/hose has lost suction

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the wand/hose is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose assembly from the machine, switch it on and test the suction from the top of the wand with your hand. If the suction is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction from the top of the hose. If its good here, then you know that the wand handle is blocked.

For the full diagnostics, check out the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com or call our Helpline on 1866MYDYSON.

THE HOSE ON OUR DYSON ANIMAL UPRIGHT HAS LOST SUCTION-HOW DO WE CLEAN IT OUT ?

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

You would need to release the wand/hose assembly from the machine then slide the hose right to the bottom of the wand and press the release catch to disconnect from the wand. Then at the base of the hose you shoudl be able to un-clip the hose to remove it completely from the machine.

Full details on how to check your amchine for blockages, can be found in the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards
Darran
