Common fault with these models and is caused by faulty CCD sensor. Canon will probably repair free of charge so send it in . As I said very common with this model.

Sony had a certain issue with the CCD chip on this camera. If it's this issue, they'll fix it free plus $20 until March 2010.
The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD
monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the
viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,
and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
extended.

image screen is blank
When I take picture it is black when downloaded to computer. This is a new problem. Have taken many photos that were perfect. Have not used in several months and now, no picture. Can it be the picture card? Using a San Disk 256 MB Compact Flash that has been in camera for months.
Also, do I need batteries when using an elec cord. I have been using both. batteries and elec.
Can you help me fix my camera it appears blank?
