Question about MSI Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Computer has power, but nothing happens

I just built a new computer from newly purchased parts from Newegg.com. I set everything up without any problems, but when I turned on the computer, the power came on as evidenced by all the fans spinning and the CD-Rom drive opening and closing, however nothing else happens, No sound, or any display from both the integrated and new Video cards. If you plug the monitor cable in and out while the computer is running, it recognizes that it is connected and displays a "Analog/Digital signal not recognized" (Not exact quote) message. I'm thinking it's either the CPU or the Motherboard. Here's the complete parts list from Newegg.com

@nettiser, As I clearly stated, the computer does NOTHING on boot. No bios, no screen, no lights, just all the fans whirring. I can't install anything on it, The hard drive (and everything else) is brand new.

How long is a piece of string?

A list of parts is not going to indicate whether you have connected or installed it correctly. Have you put or attempted to put software on the drive? Is the HDD partitioned and formatted? No drivers installed for video or sound... unless you have an operating system installed.

Too many variables to answer this question, without details of what was done or wasn't done Hardware will operate to some degree even without op system ( monitor and satac DVD drive)

Thanks for using FIXYA

Need power button for v2 premier

In most cases you can't just get a button, you need to buy a new computer case. If you're handy, you just need to put the parts in the new case the same way they're in the old one.
To help, you can go to the manufactures web site and get a manual to help.
A new case can be purchased from Newegg.com for as little as $20

I dont know how to download my photos to a file on my computer. I need to be guided with instructions can you help ? I use Windows XP and the camera is a Fuji F440.

Connect the camera to the PC using the USB cable which should have come with the camera (part PZ-04832-100) .

If XP is configured with the defaults, as soon as you turn on the camera, a window should pop-up stating what you want to do with the newly found block device. If you choose, "Open folder", you'll be able to browse the memory until you get to the picture folder; at that point, just drag and drop, e.g., on your desktop (you may also drag the whole picture folder).

If nothing happens, check "My Computer" and verify that a new disk has appeared, possibly labeled E: or F:; double click on it and do as above.

Otherwise, you can purchase a XD card reader (possibly your computer already has one built-in; check) and take out the memory from the camera, plug it in the PC, and go. You will find instructions here:

The clientpro 385 was recently restarted and now the power button flashes green every one to two seconds. Unplugging the computer and plugging it back in changes nothing.

You may want to check your manufactuar's manual, but usually a flashing green/yellow/orange power light on a desktop computer means a PSU (Power Supply Unit) failure.

If that verifies through your manual and/or their technical support department, contact the company you purchased it through or you can go on a 3rd party site like www.tigerdirect.com or www.newegg.com or even locally at Best Buy and purchase a new PSU.

Broken power switch

Contact Newegg.com asap and advise them of the situation. Because time is of the es-sense and the quicker you contact them, the quicker they will have you send it back, for a replacement, since it should be still under warranty. No sense of paying for a defective item.

EMachine will not turn on.

Sounds like the power supply is faulty. Power supplies are very dangerous to try and repair, even for qualified technicians. I would also suggest not trying to plug it in or turn it on until the new power supply is in place. Faulty power supplies have been known to cause motherboards to permanently malfunction. Note: researching your issue, I came across several forum posts with complaints about emachines and their power supplies. The best way to solve this problem is to purchase a new power supply. If shopping online, www.tigerdirect.com and www.newegg.com are two places that specialize in PC hardware. A 400-watt power supply would probably more than do the trick for you. The cheapest one I found was $18.00. Make sure the power supply is compatible with your motherboard before you buy.

NO POWER

if it does not respond at all......i mean no fan no lights no anything.....then double check that your power supply is good.....if it is and you are sure your chasis connectors are placed on the proper pins then you could have a bad motherboard or cpu.......of course more troubleshooting should be attempted before drawing this conclusion (removing one part at a time, etc.) but no power is never a good thing.

BIOSTAR K8M800 Micro AM2 wont boot

It's suppose to do that. These motherboards are new generation. After everything is ready to go, you plug the power cord to the wall and pc. The computer power supply fan spins for about 3 seconds or so and maybe a few lights blink. This is normal. Its kind of a self diagnostic telling itself (I'm ok, you can power me on now). Did I answer your guestion? If not, let me know.
