Question about Cell Phones

1 Answer

I have an iPhone 3g with some water damage. It wasn't submerged or anything but there was moisture that caused some problems. Now the home button won't work and the backlight isn't on. can I fix this by replacing some of the ribbons and screen?

You can unscrewed the two bottom screws, used a little suction cup to carefully lift up the lower part of the screen, then removed the three (3) ribbons that connect the screen to the phone, then took off the screen , look at the lower part on the back of the phone and check off. the lower ribbon labeled four (4) if its disconnected then make sure all ribbons are connected properly.

Ok so I replaced the lcd and the backlight works now. The water damage ruined it I guess. So the home button still doesn't work do you think replacing it will fix it? What's the number 3 ribbon and how do I replace that if that's the problem

Yes replacing it should fix the problem, but after you replace everything and the Home Button still doesn't work then
try this, put cardboard slide it under copper connector ribbon and also
on the back of your home button and secure with scotch tape then try it
out. This should give the home button support for when you push down
    on it.

My Iphone 3G is not turning it has the apple sing in the middle of the screen and stay like that, I did not drop it in into water or anything like that ... what can I do?

To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond

  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:

Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.

My iphone 3g has a blank screen and won't do anything, what can i do to make it work

Try a reset. Hold the sleep button and the home button together until phone turns off and release buttons when you see the Apple logo. The re-boot should take a min or two. This generally solves a lot of problems.

My home button on my IPhone is not working. Last night i dropped it in water and quickly retrieved it. i dried it off with a blow-dryer and now the only thing that doesn't work is the home button.

If your device gets covered in water, act fast and rationally, and you may be able to save your device.

1. DO NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON
2. Pull out the battery.
3. Please your device and battery into a bowl of uncooked rice to absorb any moisture.
4. Please it in a warm, dry place where it can receive direct sunlight.
5. Be patient. It is recommended that you leave it in there for at least 48 hours.
6. After 48 hours, put the battery back in and power on.

My iphone screen is blank, it works but can't see anything

Hold down the home key and the power button until you see the apple (hopefully you will see the apple). If this doesn't work, I would plug into itunes and restore the phone.

Iphone home button not working due to water damage

If you are familiar with repairing electronincs I would recommend opening the unit up and inspecting the internal components of the home button and the corresponding logic board connecting point for corrosion.
You can get a new home button for about $6 on eBay. Just eBay search for iPhone Home Button.
Hope this helps, Please Rate Me!
