Hi kapitan, for starters the AGP is faster than a PCI. Yes, you can upgrade to 512MB. There is a direct path to the CPU when using an AGP video card.
Elite Group has 2 P4M800-M7's. One is version 1.0 & 3.1.
Though both boards are very similar they are different when it comes to CPU support.
When you view the main pages for you're Elite Group P4M800-M7. Look to the left for CPU Supported & click it. I'll list both boards along with their link to supported CPU list. You will need to find the version number (on the board) in order to pick the correct CPU supported per version number.
Link 1, Version Number 1.0
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=531&CategoryID=1&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=7&LanID=9
CPU's supported. V1.0
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Support/CPU_Support_Model.aspx?detailid=531&MenuID=69&LanID=9

Link 2, Version 3.1
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=548&CategoryID=1&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=7&LanID=9
CPU's supported V3.1
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Support/CPU_Support_Model.aspx?detailid=548&MenuID=69&LanID=9

Depending on the version number you can reach CPU of 3.8MHz.

Hope this was helpful.
Feel free to ask if you need more service.
Good Luck!

Mike

I need vga driver of p4m800 pro-m7

Hello the homepage is here:

http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=94#dl

But the driver for win 7 is not there.
It will not help to download the xp driver
My advise is to buy a graphic card that supports win 7
The mainboard have an AGP 8X Slot for extenal graphic card

If you are in doubt adding a graphic card
let a expert do it for you.

Good luck

I am a gamer and p5vdc-mx has only agp slot and i want 1gb vga card but it is harder to find in agp slot i find only pci express x16 cards can i use riser card to convert agp to pci e x16

Hello
I dont think there are any agp to pci ex riser cards. As pci e x16 is part of the motherboard circutry.

There are pci to agp riser cards. If your going to be playing some of the latest games. Most games in the past 3 yrs require a pci x16 vid card.

I suggest geting another motherboard,chipset,and memory.Along with a Pci e x 16 card min 512mb.

Installed a new Saphirre Radeon x1650 512mb, 128bit, AGP 8x card. But I am not seeing a significant increase over the onboard graphics. The card install sheet says to Disable the onboard video, but I don't...

In your BIOS on the main screen choose INTEGRATED PERIPHERIALS (get a copy of your manual here if you don't have one), then go to INIT DISPLAY FIRST, and choose AGP. It's not clear from the manual if AGP is an available option, choose PCI slot if it is not. ECS is notoriously sloppy with their BIOS programming.

While you are in the BIOS, under ADVANCED CHIPSET FEATURES choose AGP &P2P BRIDGE CONTROL then make sure your AGP DATA RATE is set to auto.

You could go as high in memory as you can find. You need to stay with the AGP bus though. Newegg has a good bunch of 512 mb AGP cards some even have DDR3 and that caught my attention. They'll set you back between 50 to 100 bucks for the realy good ones.

Graphics card issue - GA-0ST800 Motherboard

Your motherboard have an AGP 4X port, you can easy upgrade whit that card since it is an APG-card. Not sure tough that your motherboard can handle all that DDR3 power witch come with the card but im sure u will notice a big improvment.
I think that a cheaper card with 512 Mb DDR2 will give u the same results.

Good luck

Bios upgrade

You can use Winflash to upgrade the motherboard BIOS or during boot using text or character driven interface . These utilities can be downloaded free of cost from the mobo manufacturer website. BUT MIND YOU IF YOU DO NOT FEEL CONFIDENT ENOUGH OR NOT SURE OF THIS PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AS ANY ERROR IN THE PROCESS OF UPGRADING MOTHERBOARD BIOS WILL RENDER THE THE MOTHERBOARD USELESS. An 8x AGP PRO Card should work without hitches on tis mobo

UP-DATE PROCESSOR

it is a matter of socket..your processor is normal AMD XP 2500 ++ which fit in the socket of the board..that socket is quite'old'///It is called socket A.in this socket you cant put a new athlon 64 proccesor...it will never fit..the 64 athlon has slots like 754 or 939.....and now 940...well...for the processor you need to change the board...and for the video board...you should change it too..the pcie is a special slot...the pcie express video card will never fit in the agp slot:)
oh...the performance is much higher...you really should do this upgrade..
here is  areview of your chipset
