According to IBM's article here, this machine can support up to three SDRAM RDIMM memory sticks, with a maximum amount of 768 MB.

The bottom line; this machine isn't really worth "serving" anything. You'd be better off using it as a personal computer for basic web browsing and emailing.

The specs from Gateway do not say what the maximum memory is for the MX8741, but if you look it up on Newegg, it shows max memory as 2GBs.

How to upgrade your downgraded memory card microsd?

For what device?
For any device simply buy a larger micro SD card.
Make sure you look up the max size for a device if upgrading.
Comment back with device make/model if you can't find size limit.

Can I do a memory upgrade on Sony VGC -LS 37E?

the specs for your computer, it states that it is equipped with 2gb of memory 2x1gb and max at 2gb, so I doubt that any higher memory upgrade installed would work, or else it would cause your system to crash or even damage it.

Can't upgrade memory

According to the user manual for your laptop, it can only support pc-100 memory. If your going to upgrade your memory just make sure you use pc-100 and also the max amount of memory is 256mb in each slot so you would be maxed out at 512MB.

You can verify the info from this link from Dell:
