Open Question

Re-installing maytag mer5765 oven door

Had tech over for dishwasher recall. Wife asked how to clean glass in the door. He opened it, moved a latch on each side & the door came off. He put it back together. Today my wife took off the door, took it apart to clean the glass's & put it back together again. Now, both of us cannot get the door installed. It just doesn't work...where should the latches be?

SOURCE: MAYTAG (AMANA) OVEN DOOR

I finally got my door back on, I had to wedge a butter knife in the hinge to keep it open, then I could put it back on the pins and slide the metal cover/locking thinge over it. Was a pain in the ass.

SOURCE: oven lights will not turn off, Maytag gas double oven range Prec. touch 750

Hello bohlke75,
Welcome

You said, After cooking in the upper oven today, my wife noticed that both oven lights were on. I tried to turn them off but the oven light button just beeps when activated. I individually tried the plunger switches on both doors but that did not work either. You also unplugged the stove with the hope it would cancel the lights but they came right back on when i plugged it back in. You assume it is something in the touch pad since both lower and upper lights are affected.

Did you leave the plug out for 5 minutes or just do it quickly?
if it only happens on one door then the plunger switch is bad!
if it's both doors then you have a button or control problem. Service can give you a true diagnoses with out the cost of swapping parts randomly!
If it was the plunger you may have been able to get away with a do it your self repair!

Let me know how you do
.
Thank You,
Huuum

SOURCE: Clean Oven Door Glass

Using a long stick/tool, attach a cloth to the end. Remove the drawer and look up at the oven door. There are 2- 3 openings that are big enough for you to reach the mess. Make sure that whatever you are using to clean the glass will not stay stuck inside, so make sure its attached securely. I used the end of back scratcher with a thin cloth attached to it. After a few attempts, I was able to completely remove the stain that was caught between the two panels. AND... I didn't need to remove any screws or dismantle the door. This could void your warranty.

My Maytag Quiet Series 300 is not cleaning my dishes very well at all. My glasses always have grit left in them (even with Jet Dry), my coffee mugs have film left in the bottom of them and now even my...

First problem: The film on dishes and glasses. Try another detergent. Manufacturers removed all the phosphates from dishwasher detergents and there are many complaints. I have had good luck with Finish Quantium tabs. Also have purchased Cascade industrial from Sam\'s online (still has phosphates).

Other problems you are experiencing with the 300 I have also. within 18 months of ownership the control board went out twice. The lower rack rusted through, the silverware basket had the bottom fall out, the door latch broke, now the control board is going out for the third time. I am not hard on a dishwasher. I have had models last 25 years before.

My final fix for my Maytag 300--I have ordered a new dishwasher, it will be delivered Wednesday. It isn\'t a Maytag.

Whirlpool self cleaning oven Accubake. 2 yr old

Hi

The oven door lock needs approximately 1 hour to cool down before the oven door can be opened after a self cleaning cycle has finished. If the lock does not open after the oven has cooled down, you can try....1) Unplugging the range or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the range back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and try moving the door lock lever or opening the door. 2) Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever or opening the door.

Most ranges today use 3 different types of door locks...one is a solenoid controlled lock ( you hear a loud buzz noise when setting or unlocking the lock and has a arm that you must move to set the lock )...another is a heat sensitive lock ( has a arm that you must move to lock and un-lock, makes no noises and has a spring that slowly moves to lock the door will the oven is heating up )...Some locks are motorized ( no handle to move, the motor locks the door by it's self when you set the range for self clean )... If the motorized and heat sensitive locks fails to open after the self clean cycle, you must access the lock and move it yourself to open the door. On the free standing ranges, most times you must lift the cook top to access the lock mechanism. On built in ovens, the oven must be pulled out to remove the top access panel to get at the lock mechanism. Some build in ovens can have the control console removed to access the lock system. On the heat sensitive style of lock, there are no electrical parts to operate the lock, usually you will need to replace the lock. On the motorized style of lock, you will have to use a ohm/volt meter to test why the motor will not work. On the solenoid style of lock, the solenoid is often mounted on the back of the range and can be accessed by removing the rear panel, some may be mounted at the front, such as in a built in oven. The failure of the solenoid style of lock is normally caused by a bad lock solenoid. In order to get your door open, you must operate the door latch mechanism manually. Unplug or remove power from the range. Take the rear cover off the range. Locate the door latch assembly and operate it manually and open your door. Then check continuity of the solenoid. Some of the latch assemblies have micro switches to supply power also. You may need to check them. You should be able to get the door open and use your range until you can get a tech to repair if you can not repair yourself.

If you've interrupted the clean cycle or have accidentally set the clean cycle with the oven door open, the latch may have engaged and now the door can't be closed because it will hit the latch. There may be a door activated* switch on the front face of the oven. In this case you may need to manually press that door switch with your finger while at the same time canceling the clean cycle to get the latch to retract so the door can close fully again.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

My self-clean Maytag electic stove (7 to 8 years old) will not clean because when you set clean on the touch pad the automatic door locking device moves to lock the door, and does pull the door in briefly,...

I fixed the problem simply by pressing the clean button when the oven was warm, not cold.
For some reason not explained in the instruction manual, the oven door safety locked properly and automatically when the oven was warm. I don't know why, but I'll take it!!
