Where can I buy a replacement speaker 205W

Where can I buy a replacement speaker for my Garmin 205w. One guy on here, I think his name is sharcnet says he has found them but does not say where. He just directs you to his site where he will only do the whole repair. All I need is the speaker. I build my own circit boards including doing my own etching so I don't need someone else to do a minor speaker swap for me. If anyone knows where to get the speakers please post the link so those of us who can make our own repairs can buy them.

Sorry for slamming you but every solution you have is a link to your site. Several other people have asked about speaker repair and you explain how to diagnose the problem, and then say you have located a source for speakers, but never let us know where. I have no problem with you trying to make a living but don't come dressed as the wolf in sheep?s clothing. Let people know where they can buy the parts they need to make the repairs themselves. Most of the repairs to GPS units on this site are fairly simple for anyone with basic skills to perform. Warn the people if they don't know what they are doing not to try it but please don't hold back information from those of us who can. By the way, I found 2 speakers over at Moser electronics that I think will work. If they do I will gladly post the model numbers and a link to the site. It's the least I can do for the people who have been waiting for over a year just to find the correct replacement speaker.

Why won't you tell people where to buy the speakers? At least 3 people have asked and all they got was info on how to test them and then directed them to a site where you will fix them for a charge. I know my speaker is bad all I needed was a place to buy the speaker not someone to fix it. Why won't you just direct the people who want to try to fix their speaker where to obtain one? If they screw up their GPS that is their choice not yours. $25 for a new speaker installed that is a great deal but add in about $20 for shipping both ways. $49 is still a pretty good deal, but if I wanted to update the map add another $69. That would total $114. I could buy a brand new unit for 20 or 30 dollars more. It is not worth it to me, but if I can fix it myself for under $20 then it is. The speakers were less than $10 for 2. If this is a true DIY site then help us do it ourselves.

Oh by the way, once I get the speakers and get more of the specs, if I need to edit the tts files I am sure XVI32 will work just fine. But I really don't think that will be necessary at all.

"don't come dressed as the wolf in sheep?s clothing". Obviously you haven't been to my site because if you had, you would see that I have many pages offering advice of things to try BEFORE people take the last resort in getting their units serviced.

Why should I type all of the information over and over, when I can just provide a link?

I try to explain what causes these problems so that people understand why something has happened, so they don't get ripped off by a repair shop. Again, you didn't know that, because you were too quick to judge and use profanity against me.

I even have a forum that I answer questions about GPS problems along with tips. No, you didn't know that, because your a person that attacks before knowing the facts.

I've been helping people on this site for a couple years and you know what? You're the 1st person who has attacked me. Read my feedback then read yours.....

Good luck with those speakers on "MOUSER", not "MOSER" as you stated. They'll last you about a week unless you modify the TTS voices with a hex editor, but I guess you knew that too.

I was responding to someone else's question when you slammed me. Sorry bud but that was wrong and to specifically name me like I am some sort of a criminal, we'll that's just plain wrong too.

I used to sell speakers on Ebay Know what happened? The majority of people broke their GPS trying to take it apart. So how did that help them?

I think I know who you are though. You're the one that harassed me via email because I wouldn't sell you a speaker.

Oh and you said I should warn people? Well buddy look at the bottom of nearly every page on my site! What does it say about do-it-yourself repairs? Your comments tell me you don't do very good research before you accuse people.

But thanks for sharing your thoughts..... ;)

Let me add some truth to this situation. I was almost in a car accident with my two daughters who were riding with me. As I turned to miss the car that was going to hit me, my garmin flew off of my dashboard and landed on the floor. Everything seemed fine, but to my surprise I couldnt hear a thing out of it. I found Sharcnet's website, which was very helpful and explained everything in great detail. When I contacted him about my Garmin and I explained what happened, he told me to send it in to see if the problem could be fixed. He contacted me saying he could and that he would fix it for no charge. I think you trying to slam him was rude and very disrespectful. Especially when his whole website explains everything in great detail. He did a great job and it actually sounds better than before. Ty again Sharcnet for helping. Keep doing the great job! Sunnidee!

Thanks Sunnidee. Glad I could help and I am glad no one was hurt in your near auto-mishap.

Looks like Hilojack1961 has some anger issues to resolve.

Can't load entire map to nuvi 205W

The Nuvi 2xx series has a limited memory size. You will probably only be able to have the lower 48 states on it if you live in the US. You can free up memory be deleting unused voices, vehicle icons, pictures...

My nuvi 205w doesn't speak street names.. Can't find setting to activate. Garmin website no help.

The Nuvi 205W does not have TTS (Text to Speech) capability. You would have to purchase a higher-up model to have this feature. Please see link: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=13432#specsTab Look under FEATURES SECTION: - Jim SHARCNET-USA http://www.sharcnet-usa.com

Is the sound muted? and I assume you have the volume set at maximum?

On the older Nuvi's you could try plugging in a set of headphones to see if you could hear audio. If you could, then that verified that the internal speaker is bad. On the Nuvi 2xx series there is no head phone jack so there is not an easy way to confirm if the speaker is bad.

From my experience is repairing Nuvi's I would say that your internal speaker is bad, provided all of the settings are correct. The speaker will need to be replaced. I can help you with that.

Best wishes,
