SOURCE: Delete unwanted scenes

In order to do editing of footage, the camera needs to be in "VR" mode. This is not as compatible as "VIDEO" Mode with DVD players, but will probably work on most newer DVD players.

How do I find the delete option on my hitachi camcorder?

Hi! The solution to your problem is Three fold.

First make sure that your Camcorder is in the Disc Navigation mode to be able delete your required scene. When the camcorder is in the play back mode the delete scene won't appear.

The second situation is to check if your scene is not locked because if it is locked you are not able to delete it.
Supposing that your scene is not locked then check what type of DVD disc you have. The discs labelled DVD Ram, DVD+RW, and the Card can be deleted. The DVD-RW can be deleted only when in VR mode and not the VF mode. Other types of discs like the DVD R can not be deleted.

Another way of deleting a scene after it has been recorded on a disc that's not deletable is to transfer the recorded scene to a computer disc and then edit it off.

How do you delete videos from your sony handycam DCR-DVD405

This Sony camcorder uses mini-DVDs to record and there are certain restrictions when DVD is used, it is not like videotape. For a DVD-R disc, you cannot delete video once it is recorded because this type of disc is a record once only. Depending on which other disc type you use and how it was initialized, you MAY be able to delete video. For a DVD+RW disc, or a DVD-RW disc initialized in VIDEO mode, you can delete the last scene IF you have not removed the disc and not recorded any new video. For a DVD-RW disc initialized in VR mode, you can delete anytime. And here is how:
Turn on camcorder and press PLAY. Select the video or still image tab that contains the data you want to delete. Touch EDIT. Touch DELETE. Select what you want deleted. The selected scene is marked with a checkmark. Press and hold the image on the LCD screen to confirm. Touch RETURN to go back to previous screen. Touch OK - YES. You cannot recover data once deleted. There is also a DELETE ALL to delete all video or images.

Using DVD-RW. How do I delete clips after finalizing, downloading to computer, then re-inserting the disk. I get message saying I cannot delete after finalizing

using this type of disc even in video or vr mode recording, it is not possible to delete the clips after finalization. unfinalizing the disc may not help.the delete option is possible only when you delete the last scene immediately from the camcorder.for reference see p.14 of the manual.so clips in between the first and last recording would not be possible to delete.an option would be to use your computer.select only the movie files that you would like to put on a disc and use your burning application for that purpose.at least you get to choose the clips you want and would have the capability of compiling it on a regular dvd disc.hope this helps.tnx:)
