Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

I have an LG Plasma TV. I believe the problem is the power assembly. I purchased a replacement assembly and installed it. The manual says to adjust the Va and Vs voltages using a screw. The problem is, I am reading about 2V from Va to GND and am supposed to be seeing 58V. Adjusting the Va screw does nothing. What am I missing?

Specifics: LG 50PC5DC-UC Plasma TV, just over 2 yrs old, that powered off on its own and refused to power on again. Power supply assembly part is EAY32957901.

I disconnected the control board and the Y-sus board and measured the voltages. With the old power supply, I got 0V across Va and Vs. With the new power supply, I get 3.5V across Va and Vs.

Oh, and they're saying I can't return the power supply so I'm really hoping to fix this TV.

First make sure you do these adjustments with the sys boards disconnected, second the problem may not be the PS board but the Y-sustain board, disconnect the large white plug going from the power supply to the y-sus board, the one on the left standing in back of the unit. and measure VS and VA adjust if necessary, if you still can't adjust these voltages without boards connected then the PS you got is faulty. the old one may still be good just bad Y-SUS.

    Hello:

The control board is not a power supply, it simply controls the function of the unit. I don't think its your power supply, I believe its the Y-sustain board. Measure to ground from the chassis or a good ground on the power supple like one of the mounting screws for the PS. to the pins on the connector on the Ps that goes to the Y-sustain board.

The fuses are inside the TV is you remove the back cover but even changing the fuse it might not work because it could have other failures in the other board assemblies.

MY lg 50 IN TV WILL NOT SWITCH ON KEEP CUTTING OFF

Hello
The power supply board to your TV has the fault. Normally, these power supply boards have no repair, as components used will be very difficutlt to get from open market. Card base replacement is recomended.
This is the picture of the power board to your tV. You can purchase it from the authorised service center for LG at your town. Actually the work is somehat skilled one, and you must have thorough knoledge in electronics to do this work. After power baord replacement, some adjustments may need to be done. OK.

Hi when i turn on my 4 year old LG 50" plasma HDTV all i have is vertical colorer lines and sound. Could the problem be in my Direct T.V. box or in my T.V.?

The problem with this tv may be either one or both of your Y-buffer modules. located on the far left of the assembly when looking at the back. Part no's may be EBR38374704 and EBR38374802, depending on the version. about $125.-140. retail for both parts. I do however recommend a professional for this install. If you have an issue with the Y-sustain module, you can instantly damage the new modules purchased!

I purchased 42" LG Plasma TV and i need to know

There is quite a lot you can do. Go to menu, picture settings and select user 1. From here you can adjust everything from colour to contrast to warmth to sharpness. The best thing to do is to switch to XD manual adjustment and make sure the mpeg noise reduction is set to max. This removes artifacts and gives a better picture. Oddly, connecting via SCART rather than HDMI will give a more watchable picture if the HD broadcast is't at a very high bit-rate.

The TV requires restoration due to jammed setting either because the remote control was damaged or power function buttons have been pressed too frequenly.

The following processes are recommended

1. Consider replacing the remote control possibly acquiring another on the market; for example, a universal remote could be acquired to replace the original provided with system upon purchase.

2. With the new remote acquired, perform a system restoration or reconfiguration; discribable

a. The universal remote acquired on retail would have a menu button where functions could be manipulated
b. The menu button once pressed should display options on which to select system reconfiguration

c. A system reconfiguration would reset the entire TV settings to a manufacturers default expected to fix any user alterations that might have resulted into a malfunction.

Once the entireprocess is complete, th TV should not operate undesiringly.

Caution Notes
1. Do not sit on remote control or press several button at the same time; could cause device to alter configuration.
2.Do not situate TV at areas that could directly place pressure on power button areas switches
3.Do not attempt to reconfgure the TV original setting without first refering to the user guide or contacting professional technical experts.

42 tv issue

The part number you gave, 932222538682 is a pdp (Plasma Display Panel), and that's just the display panel of a Philips 42" Plasma Tv., which by the way has been substituted to Philips p/n# 932222695682 and is the most expensive part of the Tv- worth about $1800.00 dollars. Unless you have some grand design to be the first on your block to own the most expensive heath kit in the world I'd suggest you return it and spend your money more wisely on a unit already assembled..
