You will have to contact Toshiba's support for that. You can check your warranty here, and if it's ok, they should be able to repair it for you. Otherwise, manufacturers make their own custom motherboards, so it's highly unlikely you'll be able to replace it on your own.

SOURCE: Motherboard died on my Toshiba Satellite A105 S4334

That is a tricky one. Guessing that you already have the new laptop, there is a usb adaptor that accepts SATA, IDE 3.5" and IDE 2.5" drives. You plug your drive into this adaptor, and plug the usb into your new computer. Now you can access all of the files on the old hard drive.

SOURCE: I have this toshiba satellite

A new replacement motherboard will cost about $200, the labor to install it at a repair shop (a complicated job that requires plenty of experience) another $100, depending on the country you live in.
So you have to choose between spending $300 on an old laptop or $500 on a new better one. I would chose the second.

My toshiba satellite 205 4 years old hangs up when attached to a power supply when it is drying up but still functions when you charge it then use after it's full, what might be the problem?

Welcome to Fixya.

You can flash the BIOS of this computer to rectify this problem. Just visit the link below and download the utility :

Support Toshiba BIOS

Make sure to disconnect ALL USB devices attached to your laptop before running the utility after download. If this does not resolve this issue, then there could be damage between the contact point of the AC adapter and the motherboard - if this is the case, then the motherboard needs to be replaced.

You can refer to the same website (above) and navigate for motherboard replacement options if there's a need to.

Thanks for using Fixya.

The monitor on my Toshiba P25-S5093 does not have any display of any kind; all black. I have display using external monitor.

Hi,
Does the display show anything before you enter windows? If yes, then press the key to transfer video back to your original screen once you enter windows. It should be the function key "Fn" + F5 - F8. looks for the icon which shows a monitor or says "CRT/LCD".
If it doesn't show anything before you enter windows I'm afraid your screen needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Whenever i use my laptop's powersupply, my laptop unit hangs. instead i could only use my laptop using the battery alone and not with the power supply provided. my laptops model is toshiba satellite...

Possible cause: 1. Power adapter failure.
2. Motherboard failure.
Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution: First of all, test the power adpater. Make sure the apdapter outputs correct voltage. It's possible that the outup voltage is not correct and the laptop shuts down to prevent the damge. Test your laptop with anohter known good power adapter.
If the problem still exists, even after replacing the adapter, most likley it's the motherboard failure. Replace the motherboard.

Sounds like there is a faulty connection between the power switch and the computer. Probably why its making a little noise.
Take in for repair and replace power button.

I need to buy one motherboard for toshiba satellite 1805- s254 i want answer to angel.armijo@gmail.com about price and shipping. thanks

I recommend that you do not buy an old board.

This laptop appears to be over 10 years old.

My expert advice. Buy another laptop. You will be happier in the end. Spend $200-$350 on www.ebay.com

There are many deals.

Best of Luck,

Toshiba satellite m55-s135 won't power on even when plugged in

When the AC adapter is plugged to the wall, if it has an LED make sure it is on, remove the battery and connect the adapter to the laptop, does it power up?
Install the battery after charging, see if your laptop powers up.
If the laptop does not power up, the motherboard needs replacing.
I hope this helps to resolve your issue.
Good Luck.

Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 Charger problem

Get another laptop.

The A135 is a lemon.

Problem is either with the dc jack on the board or more than likely the motherboard is damaged.

I've repaired a number of A135's and 95% of the time motherboard had to be replaced.

Sorry for the bad news, but I hope this helps.

CMOS or RTC battery for this laptop : can it be replaced

Hi AshishB, Yes, Toshiba does refer to the CMOS battery in their literature as the real time clock battery. Your retailer is half right, the battery is on the motherboard but its attached via a connector and it can be replaced. Here are links to a couple of venders that sell the RTC battery for your laptop: - Http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Toshiba,Satellite,L15-S104,Laptop,Batteries-Backup-RTC.aspx - http://cgi.ebay.com/Toshiba-Laptop-motherboard-battery-cmos-L15-S104_W0QQitemZ170060189842QQihZ007QQcategoryZ3666QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
