The power in my monitor did not function. After watching a video on youtube on how to open up a similar monitor i discovered the the power switch had broken on the inside. To solve the problem i drilled a hole in the front panel of the screen directly in front of the actual power button (the power button that you press on the monitor has a small light behind it, the actual button is alongside it) and now i use a match to switch it on and off. it works fine!

As in power switch? I don't think they make power switch replacements, you may need to either send it back to Dell (if it's still under warranty), or purchase a new monitor.

My horn isn't working on a Chevy equinox but it's a new horn. What could be wrong with it..and my cruise control don't qork. Is it my steering wheel?

Was Cruise Control working before the New Horn was installed? The power supply to the Horn, (input to ground wire) is connected to the Cruise Control Module (CCM). This CCM is wired to the Relay Switch Box located in the Engine Bay. The Relay Box cover will have a Chart indicating what function each Relay coresponds to. Your local autoparts store (AutoZone) can test the Relay Switch, and you'll know (if any Relay) need to be replaced.

The CCM is also wired to the Steering Wheel, but first passes through the Clock Spring Coil, located just behind the Steering Wheel. The Clock Spring allowes for the Function Buttons on the Steering Wheel to have power while Steering Wheel spins.

The Clock Spring can malfunction or break, its rare, but this will cut power to the Function Buttons on Steering Wheel. If ALL the buttons on Steering Wheel dont work, then the Clock Spring is the Culprit. The Coil may need to be replaced.

The Cruise Control Module itself may have failed and also would cause a few or all Steering Wheel Functions to quit working.

But first check the Relay Switch Box and examine the Harness Cables connecting (Steering Wheel--to--CCM--to--Relay Switch Box--to--Battery Supply).

Also if Cruise Control was working before the new Horn was installed and now not working, then most likely the Problem is a bad wire connection somewhere and/or is a faulty Relay.

I have a jacuzzi hot tub that needs a 4 funtion switch that has went bad can I replace it?

Yes, the four function switch is easily replaced. Before you replace it make sure that when you press the functions button that the momentairy switch (jag switch) is sending the proper voltage to the coil on the four function switch. If so, take not of each wires location, draw a picture or take a photo if need, and replace it the same way you removed it. http://www.spaandpoolstore.com/2000-068.html

2001 PT Cruiser loss of turn signals and hazard lights after multi-function switch replacement. I replaced the multi-function switch after noticing the fogs lights staying on when not engaged. When the new...

Perhaps you need to start with fog light problem I am guessing we do not know for sure the switch was the cause, if you can remove them from the equation. When checking for shorts make sure you check light bulbs to,
Next, since the multi function switch was the next step in your problem solving, I suggest you remove the new switch check out all wires to the connector, be especially careful to make sure none of wires have pulled out or partially pulled out of the connector. Let me know when you finish this then we can move on to continuity testing.
My best guess is the connector as it is common to both your fog light and multi-function switch,
Above all don't let it get to you, these problems can be frustrating but they also can be interesting and fun especially with the right assistant

Both headlights quit working simotaneously

There are just (3) possible reasons for this:
(a) your headlight switch has failed, or
(b) your headlight relay has failed.
(c) Fuse 1 (25 Amps) has blown

The headlight relay and fuse 1 are located (I think) in a fuse/relay block under the hood.
The headlight switch is part of the "Multi-function Switch" on the steering column.

Here's how to replace the 2001 PT Cruiser multi-function switch:

archaeology_27.jpg
Multi-Function Switch Removal & Installation
1. Open the hood.
2. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
3. Remove both upper and lower steering column shrouds.
4. Disconnect both posi-lock harness connectors at the rear of the multi-function switch.
5. Remove multi-function switch mounting screws and remove switch from vehicle.

To Install the new multi-function switch:

Note:
If replacing the multi-function switch, the combination flasher and windshield wiper/washer switch
must be transferred to the new multi-function switch.

1. Remove the two Torx(R) screws retaining the wiper/washer switch, place next to the new
multi-function switch and install two screws.
2. Place switch into place and install mounting screws. Torque multi-function switch to column
retaining screws to 27 inch-lbs. (3 Nm).
3. Connect both posi-lock harness connectors at the rear of the multi-function switch.
4. Install both upper and lower steering column shrouds.
5. Connect the battery negative cable.
6. Close hood.
7. Verify vehicle and system operation.

I had a mouse failure today and now i'm trying to replace it. The new microsoft wireless mouse will not function in the switch. model JC102CPA, Just Com Tech switch

If the mouse failed in the switch, and the new one wont work, have you tried both mice plugged into the computer direct, it may just be a fault with the switch, or you may need to plug the mouse into the computer direct for the first time

Fan/stove light switch broke needs replacing

The original fan switch for the SEG196 (circa 1995) is a four terminal switch- two for the fan and two for the light . Note that the switch spade lugs for the red and blue wires (which when connected activate the fan) are larger than those for the white and brown wires (which when connected activate the oven light). This design presumably prevented miswiring of the switch at original assembly. Since the four terminal switch is nearly impossible to find (it was discontinued several years ago), an inexpensive fix is to replace the four wire switch with a two wire SPST toggle switch. However, this means that either the fan function or the light function can be preserved- not both. I elected to keep the fan function, and simply wired the red & blue wires to the two terminals of a heavy duty replacement SPST toggle switch. Be sure to fully insulate the remaining (in this case) white and brown wires with electrical tape or wire nuts before tucking them below the new switch. Total cost: $6.00 for switch.
