Question about Amigo HD450 3-Wheel Scooter w/33AH Batteries - Color Cinnamon Red - Value M

Shorting out and dying

If I hit a bump or sharp turn the scooter will shut off. It seems to start again OK but I don't want to let Mother go out on it by herself.
No great mechanic here, but sounds like it shorts out, just don't know where to start or if I should even try. Mom is 93 and I have Parkinsons so we need it and will only need it more.
Sincerely,
Lynda Scoggins

49cc taotao can't start with electric, only kick start. electric dies when brakes applied

Sounds like your battery is dead. Sometimes they seem ok, or read good on gauge...but just a little load kills it. May also be internal short or connection problem inside battery. Either way, I'd start there.

Occasionly stops dead, battery indicator still shows full charge, switch off & on again all OK for short time

If the battery connections are tight then, I would consider the throttle or throttle wiring issue. the throttles are usually 5000 ohm pot. they can be checked with a multimeter. if it stops while driving and you hit a bump, the throttle may have internal wear spot, or a broke wire to the throttle. If someone were to check the pot they would look to see that the resistance moves evenly when activating the lever. Scooter Doctor App

I have a sterling diplomat 306 id,

Hello,
Look at the right hand back corner of the bootlid recess, there is a very small steel spike sticking up which is a switch. Sometimes if the scooter goes over a sharf bump, the lid jumps slightly and the switch lifts momentary and puts the brake on. It thinks the lid has been lifted and goes into charging mode.
Switching the power on and off resets the system until the next sharp bump.
The switch is ajustable, or the bootlid needs to be pushed down harder before locking it.
I had this happen on my Diplomat 408i.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Paul

I would say that both the batteries are not holding a full charge ....I had one in the past for my mother and if it was not chraged on a regular basis the batteries would die out ....the cheapest and easiest route here is to try new batteries.

I would say that you are on the right track , I think that maybe when the work was done on the fuel pump assy the mechanic may have pinched the power wire and hitting the bumps has caused it to short.you will have to take the seats out again (sorry). You need to look for a damaged wire or evidence of arcing .Hope this helps.

Sharp microwave

If it died as soon as you hit the Start pad, it probably has a shorted high-voltage capacitor. If it died a few seconds after you hit Start, it may be a shorted high-voltage transformer. Can you describe in more detail what happened? Have you checked the outlet for power? Have you checked the fuse inside? I'm happy to help you.
