SOURCE: how do I adjust the blades or sharpen blades.

Clipper blade sharpeners are availale but the cost of these typically start at about $300 and go as high as several thousand dollars. This makes it unaffordable for home use.
For affordable, professional clipper blade sharpening, I suggest you contact the folks at clipperparts.com

Your clipper moves at just one speed. There is no way to 'speed it up' if it is working correctly.

SOURCE: sideburn trimmer does not cut anymore but still

It is pretty common for the trimmer to get jammed up with hair particles and skin oils which can prevent the blade from moving.

Try running the blades of the trimmer in a shallow dish of rubbing alcohol. Then clean the blades vigorously with an old toothbrush or similar. If the blades still does not move try using the tip of a small flat screwdriver or similar object to push and advance the moveable blade. Repeat running in alcohol and brush clean

If this doesnt work, you will probably need a new trimmer

Can blades be sharpened

Hedge trimmer blades are really NOT worth sharpening, after you get done paying for the tech rate/ labor, you're better off just replacing them. It would take forever to sharpen each of the 2 blades with all those teeth... Don't waste your money, get new blades.

Small engine tech of 15 years.

Brand new andis trimmer pulling hair and not cutting good

The questions about Andis T-Outliner or Andis Styliner II, about not cutting or pulling hair.
On the Andis T-Outliner trimmer if the sharpness of the blade is worn out, all the tricks and treats won't make this blade to cut hair. Before I do any kind of work to the trimmer, I first test the coil for the right amount power, I can get out of the coil, without this power, it doesn't matter how new or old the trimmer is, the trimmer will not cut hair at all. If the coil is good, I will sharpen the blade and set it according to your needs (lineups or shave setting) after the blade is sharpened and set. The trimmer will need to be, adjusted for alignment to the blade, adjust the power of the coil, and adjust the tension for the blade. All these factors are involved in the Andis T-Outliner to cut hair clean especially lineups or shaving. These adjustments work together for the trimmer to work properly. I know that we all trying to save money, which is part of life, but sometimes frustration will take over and say hell with it, I'll buy another or forget it. Manufactures make mistakes, sometimes the trimmer was not sharpened or adjusted correctly. Any case, what I'm trying to say here, if you try all the tricks & treats and can get your trimmer to work, it may be easier for you to send it to a professional to sharpen & repair the problem and set the blade according to your needs (lineups or shave setting) We specialize on Andis T-Outliner Trimmers. Our complete sharpening & repair service is $19.99 each trimmer, this includes return shipping. We sharpen the blade, adjust and set the blade according to your request (Lineup or Shave setting) make all the necessary adjustments for alignment, power, tension to make your trimmer work better than new. Can i sharpen my electic trimmers using sandpaper

Things You'll Need: Three-sided blade sharpener (coarse, medium, fine) Small flat head screwdriver step 1 Using the flat head screwdriver, unscrew the trimmer blades and remove them carefully. Wipe off any oil, grime or dirt that has built up on them as this may make it more difficult to handle and keep them in place during the manual portion of the sharpening process. Step 2 Separate the blades and re-apply only the moving blade to the tension spring. Then apply the moving blade to sharpener surface and turn the clippers or trimmers on. Hold the moving blade on the surface of the sharpener and apply light pressure while moving the blade back and forth for one to two minutes. You can also lay the blade on the sharpener first, then put the trimmer tension spring directly on the blade. Step 3 Turn off the clippers and remove the moving blade. It should look shiny and feel sharper. Step 4 Remove the guide from the guide blade by unscrewing it using the flat head screwdriver. Place the guide blade on the sharpening surface and manually run it back and forth for about one or two minutes or until it's been sharpened to your satisfaction. Screw the guide back onto the guide blade while being careful to readjust it before you tighten the screws. Step 5 Screw all the blades back on the trimmers and power them on to make sure they've been fitted correctly. Test them on your own hair to make sure they've been sharpened correctly and are set to the desired depth. Ads by Google Best Knife Sharpener Sharpen like the pros. Complete kit w/ 1x30 belt sander. If they are very dull, you will want to start with the coarse or medium side of the sharpener. If they just need a small amount of sharpening, use the fine side. If you've never sharpened electric trimmers before, you may want to visually observe and feel the sharpness of the blades with your fingers before you start to sharpen it. It may be hard to tell if the blades are sharp enough if you don't feel them just before you apply them to the sharpening surface.

Sharpen hedge trimmer blade??

My trick is to make sure that I always lube the blades after each session with a 3/4 engine oil + 1/4 kerosene mix - making sure that every tooth gets a drops or 2, then run it for a seconds to spread the oil & leave the blades overlapping. Doing this allows the blades to self sharpen I've found. 2 stroke oil , unmixed is about the perfect viscosity aswell.

How to Sharpen a Black and Decker Hedge Hog sharpen-black-decker-hedge-hog-800x800.jpg Maintaining the sharpness of electric timmers can made landscape trimming easier with beautiful results. Electric hedge trimmers make trimming hedges and bushes easier and quicker than using manual hand-powered trimmers. Electric trimmers, the most popular type in the U.S., cost less and require less maintenance than gasoline-powered models. Electric trimmers are used most often by homeowners with the Black and Decker Hedge Hog series being very popular. While they are not premium products, electric trimmers like the Black and Decker Hedge Hog trimmer can keep trimming reliably for years with proper maintenance, including sharpening the blade's teeth.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need
  • Work table
  • Two medium size clamps
  • Dremel tool or similar hand-held multi-purpose tool
  • Grinding wheel attachment for hand-held tool.
  • Dremel 971 (or similar) aluminum oxide grinding sharpening stone with a tip small enough to cover the flat facet of a Hedge Hog blade tooth
    • 1 Unplug the electric trimmer before trying to sharpen the teeth.
    • 2 Clamp the electric trimmer to the work table using two clamps if necessary so the Hedge Hog is firmly held down with the blade teeth accessible over the edge of the work table.
    • 3 Insert and secure grinding tip in hand-held multi-purpose tool.
    • 4 Maneuver the grinding tip so it is perpendicular to the facet of the Hedge Hog tooth.
    • 5 Sharpen teeth in one direction, being careful to try and maintain the same cutting edge angle on the sharpened tooth of no less than 35 degrees.
    • 6 Make same number of grinding passes/grind the same length of time a few seconds on each tooth.
Tips & Warnings
  • This task should take about 15 minutes.
  • Keep a light touch; too much force can break the grinding surface.
  • For best results, insert the sharpening bit slightly less than all the way into the tool.
