Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

1 Answer

My laptop has this pop up about an anti virus protector that is trying to get me to purchase. No matter what I do I can not close the pop up. It lets me close the one and immediately another one pops up over and over. So, I finally purchased the anti virus software but could not download it. I'm attempting to get me charge card credited back for that money. Anyway, I took my laptop to Best Buy geek squad who looked at it briefly and told me I had a virus. I could leave my laptop there for a week and a cost of $200. The tech said I could just reinstall everything and take it back to the factory settings. I went to system restore but couldn't do anything. Any suggestions? By the way....this is not the same laptop I'm typing on that has the virus. ps.....I'm pretty computer illiterate! Thanks for any help.

OK... HI... This is your Lucky Day!! This is my Specialty.. :) Don't worry. Just do EXACTLY as I tell you, and we'll get you back to normal. OK?
1) Go to this link and Download/Install Malwarebytes..
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
2) run a FULL SYSTEM SCAN.
3) Download/Install one more program named Norman with this link:
http://www.norman.com/support/support_tools/58732/
4) run a FULL SYSTEM SCAN with this one as well. You have what's called a 'FAKE ALERT VIRUS' and these two programs will remove it.
5) depending on how extensive the damage is to your Operating System, we will wait until you have completed the above tasks before I instruct you to continue to the next phase. OK? So, for now, complete the above tasks and inform me when you are done ok?

How to remove virus at hard dish pc

Using another computer, download the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and burn it to a CD disk.
Install the disk in the affected computers CD/DVD optical drive.
Run Malwarebytes.

There may be a LOT of pop-ups. So may in fact, that you may not be able to see the Malwarebytes screen, and wonder if it is running.

NO matter how many pop-ups you see, and no matter how real they look, DO NOT click on anything.
Let Malwarebytes run.
Average time is 42 minutes.

1) Free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware,

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

On this page click on Download Now in the green rectangle. (Ignore the other Start Downloads, etc. They are advertising for something else)

After you are finished running Malwarebytes, you may wish to turn System Restore OFF, and run Malwarebytes one more time.

THEN turn System Restore back on.

System Restore will also keep the 'virus'.

2) The 'virus' you have is a 'scareware malware',

Boot the laptop to safe mode and perform system restore to the earlier point. I am sure this will resolve your issue. I suggest you to do not download and install 2 anti virus software in one computer that will messup the computer as well. Thank you

Try www.kaspersky.com. Bear in mind that it may not be a real virus but a scam attempt

Dell computer inspiron 1545 has a virus. i have purchased a norton anti virus protection, but the virus continues to pop up. What should I do?

This sounds like one of the trojans which pop up and tell you to click here, to remove a specific virus. Problem is that when you click it, you simply drive it deeper into your system.
If you know almost exactly when this hit your system, then you must find any files, especially "exe" files, which match that date and time in your Windows folder. You most likely won't be able to delete those files, no matter what you do, so the best you can do is to rename them. And the one with the "exe" extension should be renamed to an other extension like "txt" instead.
And you will most likely have to do this under Safe
Mode as well.
Once you have done these things, try to start your PC with the Norton Anti-Virus DVD in the drive, and see whether you can actually start the PC using the Norton DVD.

''Bad Image'' Error?

First download a copy of Dr. Web, Malware Bytes and Superantispyware. Run these one at time. This should get rid of all your problems, if not a Windows repair is next.

How will i remove the virus manually?

i hope you got norton off your system before putting AVG free on. Virus programs try to fight off other virus programs by postiong false virus claims to erase the other program. eventually they will kill your hard drive. You need a product key for a good virus protectant. Norton or CA offer good, reliable protection for your dollar. What i would do, is back up any really important stuff you have there, format your hard drive and install Vista again if you have the disc and then re-install it to permanetly delete viruses. Also your system maybe slow because VIsta needs at least a dual core processor and 2 GB RAM to work like a XP machine

Anti virus 2009

This is known as a non intrusive advertisement trojan, and it's near impossible to get rid of. The reason is that when this invades your machine it places several inactive copies of itself throughout the computer. When you stop one, the others are basically notified, and one or two more will open and leave several more, but not all of them will open. After a couple of months the number is exponential. Most anti viruses won't find them because they are non intrusive, laying dormant, or are in files that aren't scanned on a regular basis, ie... picture files, screen savers, music, etc... The only sure way that I've found to get rid of them is to completely wipe the hard drive, reformat, and reinstall the operating system.
