Whirlpool side by side with water and icemaker. My water works perfectly fine but my ice maker no longer produces ice. It runs but it's not getting any water to make ice. What can be done to fix this?

There are a couple reasons your icemaker will not fill with water.
First thing you want to check for is a frozen fill tube to the icemaker. The easiest way to check for a frozen line is to remove the icemaker. Once the icemaker is removed look for ice in the fill tube. If there is ice in the tube the (water valve) will need to be replaced. You can melt the ice by forcing hot water up the fill tube.
Another reason could be the icemaker is not sending voltage to the water valve. The fix for this issue is to replace the icemaker. Hope this helps you with your whirlpool fridge!

The reason to change the water valve with a frozen water line is because the solenoid is not closing all the way. This allows water to enter the fill tube of the icemaker and freeze based on the temperature.

My Whirlpool refrigerator, model GT22DMXGW00, leaks. Water is accumulating in the bottom-underneath the right hand side crisper. It then drains out onto the kitchen floor. Some is freezing too. It is...

check the ice door flap where ice drops into a glass.sometimes the flap doesn't close completely and allows heat to enter threw the flap.this causes frost to build and melt thus you have water you can't explain. hope this helps.

Indoor icemake is jammed

you don't mention a model or type of icemaker, but here is what I have done in the past.
Sometimes the ice melts together (door left open, etc). Take out all your ice and put into an ice chest, making sure that any large pieces are discarded or used elsewhere. Clean out any ice or pieces on the ice feeder screw or arm. Then close the door and make sure the screw it is rotating without any ice in it.
If all is OK, then put the ice back in and that should solve the problem. Good luck.

Ice maker freezes up

Check to see if your ice door flap is closing each time after you remove your glass of ice. If it is staying open or not closing all the way, then this is your problem. You will need to dismantle the water and ice through the door assembly to see what your problem is. This is pretty involved on most refers and there are too many ways these are built to tell you how without a model number. Be advised that ice build up in the crusher can happen with normal usage and no mechanical problems. If this is just an intermittent problem it is probably caused by a piece of ice jamming your ice door flap open long enough for hot moist air to get into your ice bin and cause it to refreeze as a solid ice mass. When you are done getting ice, reach up inside your door and make sure no ice is stuck in the door. A pain to do, but the alternative is to dump all your ice and clean out your crucher every 1 to 6 months when it occurs. Good Luck Appliance Specialists

Whirlpool icemaker microswitch location

If the icemaker is still in the refrig ,(easily removed with 1 screw ) pour about 2/3 cup of water into it . Also check the black fill hose which is above the icemaker fill cup , to see if it is frozen closed . If the icemaker dumps the cubes , and doesn't refill with water , replace the water inlet valve behind the refrig . If it doesnt dump the ice , replace the icemaker . My parts site is down , or I would give you part numbers for the water inlet valve and the complete icemaker .

The laser light should flash 2 times , pause , flash 2 times etc , if working correctly . If the laser light is not on , then the icemaker is in the harvest mode . If it stays off , icemaker is bad . If you close the flap on the left side of the freezer , the light should go off , until you release the flap . If these factors are ok , then the optics are ok .

Freezer side has icing problem

check to see if the flap for the ice maker is open and or in need of cleaning, also look at the gaskets on the unit. Put vaseline on them if they feel brittle and it wilkl rejuvinate them.

Icemaker problems

Woody, This is one of the easier dispenser assy. to fix. The flapper is pretty simple, it clips on to the hinge assy. The hinge assy. has a spring that closes the flapper. There is a selenoid that pulls the flapper open. You can look up the parts on the net to see what they would cost. Flapper-12562701, hinge assy. 67004119, solenoid-12575401,spring 12565502. I don't know if you need all of them, Im not there to see. But if you have some time on your hands you could save a lot of money doing it yourself. Once fixed, you should be good for a long time.
