Check that the hinges aren't loose. If so, align and tighten them. Check door latch to make sure the spring isn't loose or has fallen off.

I have taken the door apart. The hinges are tight, no appartent wear on looseness. I have checked the gasket to make sure it isn't binding at the bottom and holding the door out at the top. the door stops just short of engaging top gasket at the top

Is there anything in the way of the hinges inside? Gasket you said was ok, is the door warped? Anything inside that would jam the hinges from closing?

Both oven doors do not close properly. lights stay on & can't heat properly with doors not closing tight. is there an adjustment for these doors?

We have similar Jen Air double oven and with the same problem but only on the lower oven. The doors are interchangeable and the top door fits fine but the lower door will not close completely at the top. It does turn out the light but has never cooked properly. I checked with several appliance repair shops and the hinges are not adjustable, but since one door closes and our other doesn't it is not a hinge problem, just a defective design.

We let this go too long and are out of warranty so I doubt Jennair is going to do anything. I hope someone post a solution but it is clearly not problem with the henges but with the receptacle they go into.

same problem, I tried to adjust the level and tip the oven back, but that didn't work either.
Two options exist, change the hinges, or close the door with a hammer handle between the door and oven. Place the handle down low by hinge, then push the door closed very firmly to pull the hinge outward a bit.

Oven light remains on when door is closed.

This range was probably made by Whirlpool or one of its dozen divisions so it probably has some slop in the hinge mounting to correct for their so-so manufacturing. You may have to somewhat disassemble it to get to the hinge screws though.

Oven light

Heat causes metal to expand. Expanding metal can make contact with other objects, like a ground that completes a circuit. Take the lamp assembly apart and check for exposed conductors. Also, check the door switch. If it is heating up and something within the switch is expanding then the switch may be closing due to heat. With the door open puch the switch all the way in and see if the light goes off. If it does then replace the switch.

Kenmore oven model# 790.79383401 door not closing

Do the hinges come out with the door or does the door slip off the hinges? If the hinges are on the door then there is no adjustment if not there should be an adjustment but you may have to pull the range out to properly adjust if it is a built in range. Also check the door lock.
