About playing video

I don't know what conversion format to video is converted to. Also, there's a feature in the Settings menu called Format, and I was wondering what change that would make to the player. As far as the files I convert, they are .wmv & .mpeg which are supported by the player.

    Hi,
I tried dragging and dropping a video file in the Video folder, but it didn't appear in the player. I don't know if the problem is that I'm using video files that I recorded on my pc (which are in .wmv & .mpeg formats), rather than just files taken from dvds. In either case, the file is supposed to go to the Video selection in the player, and not Photo one.

The player comes with a cd for installing the Best Buy Digital Music manager and the Sansa Media Converter. As far as the files on my computer, the Hidden or Read Only boxes are unchecked in the Properties menu, so I don't know why these files won't convert to the player. I've tried converting some dvds with the Sansa Media Converter, but when I try to add the media, I get an error message that says "The file " " cannot be imported. Make sure that it is a valid file type and its contents have not been corrupted." I don't understand what the problem is, how will I be able to convert video files if there will always be an error?

If you use the FORMAT command, it will basically dump all the contents and put the HD back to where it began. NOT a good thing to do. Try converting the dvd's to the format, and placing them on your hard drive of the computer and then drag and drop them to the Videos folder on the mp player. Let me know if that works. Thanks//D

Did your player come with a software disk to control conversion and movement for files? There is a good chance the files you are trying to view are protected, thus it won't show. Right click on the files you are moving and check the properties and make sure they are not protected. If there are check in the boxes for hidden or read only REMOVE THEM, also if a statement shows them BLOCKED, click to REMOVER THE BLOCK. I believe the files you are using in WMV format are protected thus the reason you can't transfer them. Please try this and see if that works.

I suggest you try this conversion program and if it works the uninstall the other conversion programs.
Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine the type of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI and WMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is an incompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to a format that your MP3 player uses. After video conversion then copy the video files to your MP3 player using the USB cable from your computer. What format of a video does ma797 mp3 play?

The player can ONLY play *.AVI files. For other formats, you need to use the converting tool included in the driver CD to convert them,
2) Use the AVI converter (1) Select “Program files”→“AVI Converter”on the Start menu to see the following window.9070010.jpg
2) Click "Add" button to display “Conversion Setting”window.
3) For the “Source File” field, specify the file that you want to convert by clicking the button on the right. For the “Target File Path” field, specify the destination where the converted file is saved. 11218e5.jpg

4) Be sure to select the correct resolution – 128x128 to match your player’s screen, otherwise the conversion may fail.

Cannot play videos

Use Sony's content transfer to transfer the video. In the settings, select the automatic conversion of the video when you drag an drop it using content transfer. This worked for me with Windows 7 and an upgraded device firmware to version 1.0.1. Both Sony's Content Transfer 1.3 and firmware version 1.0.1 can be found on Sony's website.

Cant convert video to my philips sa3020 or 3021

Unlike most devices the Philips 3020 will only play videos that are converted using the software that came with it and it will only open wmv files. So these are the steps that you need to do to successfully to play video on the 3020:

1) convert video into wmv format using any wmv converter (unless it is already in wmv format). I use WinAVI video converter and it works perfectly.

2) after the file is converted then you need to open up the Philips media converter that came with your MP3 player and add the files that you just converted to wmv format and then hit convert. If you can't find it here is a link to the download http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sa3020_37/sa3020_37_mcs_aen.zip

3) After the second conversion process then connect up your 3020 and drag and drop the files.

** The Philips media converter will only accepts files im wmv format so that is why the first conversion step is necessary. If you try to open any other format it will not respond.

Hope this helps!

Can't play back video on sony walkman nwz-s616F

Hi everyone, I had this problem with the Sony MP3 players I bought for my kids (NWZ-S615F). There's a new (free) video converter from iWisoft (download.cnet.com or easy-video-converter.com) which does the trick. I looked into the others mentioned here and there were some virus/trojan horse concerns but so far this one seems fine. I downloaded the file, then did a virus scan, then ran the application and did another virus scan. I've used it 10-15 times since then and did another virus scan and nothing comes up so looks good. Choose the output file format as the first option under iPod. If it hangs while doing the conversion, try to run the output file before you get frustrated - I've found that most of the time the conversion was completed before it hung and the video plays fine.
