Question about Vizio VO47L 47 in. LCD TV
What I found to be the problem on the particular unit I repaired, along with several other flat panels varying from Samsung Plasma, Toshiba LED, Pioneer LCD, to off-brand generic backlight LED wanna-be\'s, was that there weren\'t any actual defects on the parts, circuitry, or wiring but mostly I found the troubles to be located in or around the connector housings that link the power supply to various boards &/or lighting components. The majority of them were simply just corroded or \'gunked-up\' if you will, with dirt, dust, \'fried\' insect remains, and even Insect &/or rodent ..i know that\'s gross but most of the units i work on are from homes located in rural areas where during cool temperatures the electricity flowing through these connectors is an ideal place for insects to breed and colonize.
All that being said, the first thing to check is power, if power is good then unplug all connectors and check for any debris or discoloring of the pins which can be cleaned with a simple cotton swab or toothbrush with a dab of alcohol on it and then dried before power is re-applied. If the connectors all look new, shiny & clean then look into any connections containing pins and ensure that they are all aligned and straight up ensuring they fit in the female connector that plugs into them. If you run across bent pins they are most likely shorting on the frame or other pins when pressure is applied by attaching the connector. **AGAIN, IF THE PINS ARE BENT TAKE CAUTION IF YOU TRY AND STRAIGHTEN THEM BACK YOURSELF AS IST IS EASY TO DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD!* An easy way for an everyday non-electronics worker with no applicable tools to do this i have found is to use something like a little red nozzle straw you find on many aeresol cans of lubricant or compressed air. Make sure it hasn\'t been used of course, and simply place a pin into the small hole at one end of the plastic straw and lift it until the thing is straight up, or as close as possible. This method allows for you to not \'double-bend\' the pins as well as serving as and insulator against the other pins when straightening.
I hope some of this helps before you run out and spend $100\'s or tear up your unit by attempting repairs on parts that aren\'t broken.
Good Luck & TAKE CARE.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there are some troubleshoot you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

Please post back what you find.
