There is a fuse inside the control panel of the AC itself. You have to take the cover off (from inside on the ceiling) and look up in there with a flashlight to find it. It is usually a very small amperage fuse - I think a 1 or maybe a 5 amp.

hope this helps

good luck

Carrier electric furnace (air handler) stopped running

The 5 amp fuse may be bad, they go quite often, and they are exactly the same as the car ones. Check the fuse with a meter. If its OK turn the unit on and check for voltage going to the blower fan. You should get a reading between at least one pair of wires. The unit should have a schematic on it somewhere, check it to see which wire pairs are used for the variable speeds of the fan.

Cannot get ANY of the fans to work.

one half of the breaker you moved is not making contact in the panel or moving the breaker caused the fan relay to be on the same 115 volt leg as the power leg. If the breaker is connected to two points in the panel and you have 115 volts on each side of the breaker (230 volts) You can move the breaker one notch higher or lower or switch wires on the breaker to correct the circuit.

Problem with Air Conditioner

there will be an access panel where the motor is located. 1st thing to check is fuse or circuit breaker feeding the air handler. this is on seperate power from compressor unit outside and usually has a fused or breakered disconnect on the side of the unit. if fuses are good or breaker is not tripped then switch fan mode to on. if blower runs in on but not in auto then it is a thermostat problem. if still no go then turn off power, remove access panel and find the squirrel cage fan blade. make sure it turns freely. it is very common for these motors to go bad. it can usually be removed easily and taken to a motor shop. I use Roy's Electric in Richmond, Va. They can test the motor on the bench and replace it if it is faulty.

After a thunder storm my roof mounted Carrier cooling/heating unit stopped working and now does nothing. Changed the time delay fuses and checked the circuit breakers and they seem fine. Is there a reset...

Hi,
You may have a circuit board problem. Make sure you have power to the unit first. If you can, get on the roof take the access panel off to the electrical components. Most carrier circ boards have a flashing light display on the board itself. On the back of the panel you just took off should be a kiosk that tells you what the flashing means. If the light is dead, no color but you are sure there is power to the unit, the board is bad or there could be a fuse blown on the board. Most circ board fuses are a small 3 or 5 amp blade fuse mounted right on the circ board. I have seen many a carrier board burn out because of lightning. I hope this is not the case for you, as carrier boards are just a little expensive. Hope this helps you get some air back. Mark

Unit has faint hum but no compressor motor or fan workin

Check the fuses and breakers. If there are fuses, they will be in a small box mounted on the outside near the outdoor unit. You will have two fuses in a cartridge that your local hardware store will check for you.

The circuit breakers may be in the main breaker panel in your house . There will be two and more than likely they will be clipped together. Push them all the way back and then all the way forward to reset. If the breakers aren't marked, they will be 30 amp to 50 amp depending on the size of the unit.

Hope this helps, stay cool. mark

First time using my air conditioner after winter. my "inside" fan will run but the outside unit is not starting. My weather king is approx 9 years old

Check fuses and circuit breakers to the outdoor unit. Fuses should be right next to the unit in a box on the side of the house. Easiest thing to do is replace them both. Circuit breakers are in you circuit breaker box. There will be two of them, probably 30 or 40 amp maybe 50 amp if a big house. Trip breakers all the way back and then all the way forward. Hope this works.

AC unit GOODMAN modelGSC130421AC was working good and today stop working the fan work but the compresor dont start

Check your circuit breakers and fuses. If it tripped breakers or blew fuses it may be because the outdoor coil is stopped up with dirt. If it is wash it out real good with a water sprayer.
