I have a 1991 Buick Park avenue with 44,000 miles that is not blowing air through the vents. I just put a brand new resistor in and that changed nothing. The fan spins at a low speed when the car is turned...

Switch the relay with one of the other relays to make sure that this relay is good then go to the HVAC control programer which is behind the floor vent (middle). The Blk/gray wire is the one that supports the relay coming out of the HVAC programmer, but there is a chance that this programmer is bad. If that proves to be the case, I may even have one...let me know.

My Cadillac is making a "knocking" sound underneath (by the muffler). What causes that and is it expensive to repair. Also, the Caddy has "climate control" a/c. It doesnt blow air like other cars a/c. Is...

I'm not sure about the knocking sound, unless there is a piece inside the exhaust that has become dislodged and is bouncing around when the car is running.

As far as the A/C a common problem is to have a low charge on the A/C system of refrigerant which causes the air to seem less cold when blowing. There is no way to change the fan except by pushing the buttons to increase the speed electronically on the climate control fan. It can go as high as 'hi' fan if you press the button for that.

have u checked your low pressure and high pressure when compressor is on. Remember the compressor has a thermal protection switch if the compressor has too much freon the A.C will work for a while turn off, then turn then off and on. Are the air filters for the evaporator clean, is the blower fan blowing the correct way. How long ago did the evaporator coil got cleaned. With a properly cleaned filter and evaporator coil you can now check for pressures. Use your ammeter and check how much the compressor is pulling and compared it to the name plate. How much tons your A.C. If you give me how much tons and low and high readings I might help you diagnose the problem. Make sure the evaporator is clean blower blowing correct way condenser cleaned and condenser fan rotating the correct way

Rheem central air unit is blowing cold air but seems to be in low

If you have had a drop in how much air is coming out it is quite likely not fan related. The fan motors usually run or do not run. More likely it is a clogged air filter or some of your ducting has blown loose. Like water, air will go the route of least resistance. If your fan motor is not running at all, I would need model number for resolving that.

Unit will not come on at all has voltage to unit and to contactor?

Sounds like you lost the refrigerant charge. Low pressure switch will not let compressor run. Look for oil around the condenser tubes. If you find it, this is probably the leak source.

Heating not working like it should

The fan for the A/C should blow harder than in heat. The fan should be on high for cool and low for heat. You can change the heat setting for medium but I would not recommend it because it may make heat coming out feel less.

Vornado heater doesn't work on high setting but only at low setting

Dust on the inside of the unit can cause the overload switch to shut many vornados down. Blowing the dust out of the unit with compressed air or a blower may help.

Another problem that causes vornados to stop working (light on - no heat no fan) is when one of the bearings starts to go bad in the unit. This causes the fan to be slower and less effective and the unit’s inability to move the heat away from the thermal overload switch again causes it to shut down.

Though you could remove the front and rear bearings and try to get replacements if it's even replaceable ... Once the bearing starts to go bad there is little that can be done ... HOWEVER, here is one solution to get more life out of the unit.

First, use a blower to blow all the dust out of the unit.
Then, because it is typically the front bearing that goes bad first, lay the vornado on it’s back (so the unit would be blowing air up toward the ceiling), this will relieve the front bearing somewhat and rely more on the rear bearing which tends to last longer.

The vornados I’ve had are all thermistor units ... that is, they don’t just turn on and off when the set temp is reached but in fact slow themselves down (both heat and fan) to keep some level of air circulation in the room. This is a good thing by the way.
There are usually two toggle switches .... one is a heat switch - usually Low & High .... the other is the thermistor switch (this sometimes is labeled “fan”) - usually Auto & High.

Once the unit is on its back ... Now, change the settings as follows:
Turn the Heat switch to LOW
Turn the Fan switch to HIGH
Turn the dial (with the temperature in degrees on it) to the lowest setting - which is somewhere around 60’ish.

Now turn the unit on and it should stay working.
Three things that could cause it to turn back off ...
You turn the Fan switch back to Auto.
You turn the Heat switch back to High
You turn the temperature selection dial too high ... though, you can cautiously turn the dial up a few degrees at a time ... the unit will start shutting down again when you set the temp too high ... then just dial it back down ... unplug for a couple minutes, then turn back on.
