Check if the color wheel that you have purchased is an original product of Samsung (The company to which your unit belong). Also check if something has gone wrong with it by asking a nearby t.v expert to check it. You may be well inside the warranty period to ask for a replacement.
Best Regards. Thank You.

Has anyone changed the color wheel in this model before and is there a jumper that needs to be removed? I have a link in the previous posts illustrating this but it is another model # same color wheel. Yes, it is an original part from Samsung Parts. The color wheel appears to be ok.

Hello,

try to adjust the convergence on your TV, this should balance the color.

If you don't know how to adjust the convergence on your TV, follow the below procedures:

  • Select the "Menu" button on your remote control. This will bring up a display menu on the screen, giving you access to all of the customizable settings on your TV.
  • Select "Settings" from the list of available menu options. This will bring up a variety of different settings categories, including "Color" and "Channels."
  • Select "Convergence" from the list of menu options. This will bring up the settings to adjust the convergence on your Apex Rear Projection TV.
  • Use the arrow buttons on your remote control to line up the colors that have appeared. If your convergence is out of sync, you will see three lines of color. They should all be overlapping as one solid line. When you are finished, press the "Menu" button on your remote control to exit the menu and continue watching television.
Good luck.

After color wheel replacement, there is adjustment requires, it calls Index Delay Adjustment. I would recommend to have service manual cop in hand as procedure is written in service manual, however, below is brief procedure about index delay adjustment to correct color phase/ color wheel timing to have correct colors.

1. Turn off the power to put the unit into the STAND-BY mode.
2. In order to enter the Service Mode, Press "Mute" → "1" → "8" → "2" → "POWER" buttons on the Remote Control.
3. Select "Service" on the first display of the Service mode menu.
4. Press the ▲ ▼ (Up or Down) button to move to INDEX DELAY, then press ENTER to select.
5. The INDEX DELAY setup screen (with a red bar at the bottom of the screen) will be displayed.
6. Press the ◀▶ (Left of Right) buttons to adjust. Check the red color at the bottom of the screen at its minimum and maximum
values of changing from red to magenta, then adjust to the mean value.

Hope these info will help you.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

    did that already

  • ambsador Jul 28, 2010

We already did this adjustment and it did no good. We also looked at the CCA adjustments no help. Under the actuator gain adjustment the red and blue plus signs were backward and no amount of adjustment made a difference. Does this model have a jumper that needs to be removed?

    Shahid Electronics Jul 28, 2010

OK, then there is another adjustment calls CAA (Color Coordinate Adjustment).
CCA equipment(CA210) is required to perform that adjustment and Samsung service center has that interface.

Check any jumper settings on color wheel circuit board and change it to achieve correct phase color.

I almost said same thing that you posted. Jumper setting can be observed on old color wheel, if you have it.

  • ambsador Jul 28, 2010

Please explain about jumper settings. Does this model have the jumper that needs to be removed to correct this problem. We have seen other posts about this jumper, (white cap), needing to be removed to solve this problem. The only thing it is not for this model #, it is for the same color wheel though.

    Shahid Electronics Jul 28, 2010

As I explained in previous post, observe old color wheel, jumper is inside opening, inside a vertical metal plate about 1 inch under
sticker.it is black rubber remove it on new color wheel if it was removed from old/ defective color wheel to fix the color phase problem.

  • ambsador Jul 28, 2010

When I said cap I did not mean a capacitor, what I have seen on other websites was a post about a white plastic cap on two posts that need to be removed to correct problem.

  • ambsador Jul 28, 2010

Are we talking about the same color wheel? This old color wheel has no jumper and the posts i am talking about show the jumper being inside a little square hole inside the set. The following link is for the post I am talking about.

Yes, it seems we are talking about different color wheels. OK, remove white plastic jumper as advised in given thread and see its results and if that does not fix the issue then put it back and confirm that replacement color wheel is exact same as older one.

    ok, no problem.

Samsung HLR5078 50" tv - replaced a shattered color wheel but the colors are way off with the new one - yellow in place of both red and greens.

I'm not sure you received the correct color wheel. Do you have anything left of the shattered color wheel to compare it to the new one? Seems if you got the correct wheel then the colors should of been the same. Color wheels spin at the same rate of 60Hz. The only reason why you would get the wrong color is that the color on the wheel is in the wrong placed at the right time. I would see if you can get a wheel the same # as your original one.

How do I know if it is L6 or L3 chassis

you need to look on the right side of the set (facing the front of the set) for a small label that says
model code...
serial number..
version..
if the version number is blank or PW01 you have the
L3 chassis.
if it says PU02 then you have the L620 chassis
also the L3 chassis has the ballast on a slight angle and the L620 has the ballast straight.

Prints all yellow, with some blue and black, no brown

the problem is very simple the magenta ink the cartridge is over or the head is been blocked from where the magenta ink comes out,
because red colour requires ---yellow plus magenta(pink)----to make it red.and ----dark yellow plus magenta(pink) -------- for brown colour.
