Question about IBM ThinkCentre A50 PC Desktop
My computer takes 3 to 5 minutes to boot up - can I reduce it?
You may have a lot of (unnecessary) software that is trying to load at startup. Download "Autoruns" and disable some of them from starting (they will still be available, they just won't be running at startup):
You may also have malware that is causing the problem. Try this:

If you are using windows machine, go to start->run and type cleanmgr.exe and follow the instructions to clean up the junk and temporary files in your machine.
Also go to start->run and type msconfig and go to Startup tab and remove all the unnecessary startup items.
Also uninstall unwanted programs/applications from control panel (start->controlpanel) and go to add or remove programs / Programs and features based on your operating system version.
Now you can clean up your registry values using http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/ or some other software available in the market.
Once you have done this if you know you have many unused useless files in your machine remove then and do a fresh restart. Then defrag your drives using the utility available in windows (go to my computer and right click on the drive you need to defragment and then click on the properties in the pop down menu. Once you are in properties window go to tools tab and click on defragment now). After the defragmenting is complete you can restart your machine again and you will notice a significant performance boost.
More than everything you need to make sure your machine is malware free; viruses and malware are one of the major reasons for systems being slow. So run a thorough Antivirus and Anti Spyware checking using some standard antivirus software and anti spyware software.
Hope this will help you.
