Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F828 Digital Camera

1 Answer

The problem I'm having with my Sony DSC F828 is that the mobile lens has come loose from the body of the camera. There are no obvious screws visible that would stabilise it. I have read that it is a commin problem for this model. I would be grateful if you could help me find a solution. Should I take it in to get it fixed professionally or can I do it myself? thank you

I need to replace the lens hood for my Sony dsc f828 . What size should I be looking for ? 55 mm ? Thanks

The lens thred is 58mm on F828, however a 58mm lens hood does not work; I have both a reverseable and a regular 58mm flower hood that extends 1/2" to the front of the lens causing dark corners on 28mm focal length. In addition, the lens itseft has built in receiver for hood as labled in the manual, I am thinking to get a 62mm or 60mm reversable hood and match up with the receiver on the lens

My DSC f828 sony camera's lens is loose. Sony says it is not worth repairing. Surely there must be a way to fix this ? thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "loose". Does it still take good pictures? If not, then Sony is correct...the camera was introduced in 2003 and the cost of repair would far exceed the camera's worth.

After having the f828 in my luggage the lens and the body are not tight together anymore. when i hold the lens with my left hand the body joggles left an right? can i unscrew the camera and tighten a screw...

I fixed that problem by tightening up screws but they were inside the lens turret swivel mechanism. This required some fairly major surgery to get to them and it was a bit intimidating. I carefully noted all the steps, took plenty of photos on the way using the Nikon macro, and consulted the service manual. The outcome was a fully restored and serviceable F828 which, despite its age is going on holiday with me again soon to the South Pacific. All the detail for the surgery is on http://howtheheckdididothat.blogspot.com/ I hope that helps you and the many others I know have had the same problem. Good luck - I hope you have it fixed after all this time. The F828 is still hard to beat in many respects.

I am missing several little screws on the bottom of the cybershot DSC-F828. Camera is loose but functions fine

You might try going to a place that repairs watches and jewelry...they usually keep an assortment of tiny screws on hand.

Pictures appear with vertical or horizontal lines, very white

In my opinion, it is just matter of 2 ribbon wires that are not plugged properly at lens section, coming from main board (LCD section) because to fix / tight a loosed Hinge screws, above said 2 ribbon wires (flexible boards) need to be remove on lens side.

Mechanical problem

Undo the six M2 screws that hold the left housing assemble (control panel for flash & focus etc) and remove You will see that there are 3 srews that hold the hinge assembly together all 3 wiil be loose and require tightening (you will neeed to tilt the lens up to see and tighten the third screw.

Reassemble the housing making sure not to trap thw flexible cable

Easy 5 min job

Lens is loose from body

One note on this fix. There are four screws that need to be tightened on the lens. With the cover off and the lens pointing straight forward, there are three small screws visible. After tightening them, rotate the lens upward to expose the fourth screww. After that one is tightened, you can then replace the cover and six cover screws.

Do you have the camera set for flash? If it were set for no flash (diagonal bar thru lighting bolt) the F32X and the camera do not communicate.

How do I change lens orientation on my F828?

Just move it. I assume you're talking about the swivel? It's just a friction joint. Hold the body and rotate the lens up or down.
