There is a kit avalable for this purpose. It comes with a 90 degree elbo that requires you to remove the back wall of the drier. The kit comes with instructions to complete this change. you can buy this where appliance parts are sold.

There is a knock out on the side and you will need to get the elbow from the appliance parts store near you. If you need more help let me know. You will have to disassemble the dryer to do this.

I have an DLG3788 dryer, the heat comes on but only for a few seconds at a time and it continues this process

There are two thermostats in the dryer. They are located on the exhaust tube that houses the burner element and the ignitor. One is on the top half of the exhaust tube near the dryer wall and the other is on the bottom half of the exhaust tube toward the center of the dryer. The one on the bottom half of the exhaust tube in the one with the reset button. Before pushing the reset button disconnect power. The reset switch is between two wire leads that go to the thermostat. If you open up the right side access cover on the dryer, then you can see the exhaust tube. It is about 5 inches in diameter and (looking thrugh the right side access port), it will be sloping up from left to right as it runs from the front of the dryer to the back. You can see another exhaust tube further away from the port and lower down, but the one you are looking for is closest to you and higher up. If you look back toward the front of the machine (left), you can see two wires hanging down from the opposite side of the exhaust tube. The wires run to the thermostat which you can also see on a bracket standing off the exhaust tube. In between the two wire leads that run to the thermostat is the reset button. push it back in then try the dryer it should work now, good luck Tim

The dryer will not get hot on any setting after I moved it into a new house. All that comes up is: Dry / Cooling. Is there anything I can do to reset or something?

Unplug dryer and the reset switch is between two wire leads that go to the thermostat. If you open up the right side access cover on the dryer, then you can see the exhaust tube. It is about 5 inches in diameter and (looking through the right side access port), it will be sloping up from left to right as it runs from the front of the dryer to the back. In between the two wire leads that run to the thermostat is the reset button.pull off right access port cover, look in and left for thermostat hanging down off of exhaust tube. Press button between the two wires going to thermostat. It is a 3 minute operation if you can get to the right side access port.

I would like to convert exhaust out the side of dryer instead of the back. My manual says this is possible, is this difficult?

Hi,
No that is not difficult. You just hammer out the knock out on the side of the dryer and then install a 90 degree ell, some dryers have it insdie in the back, and turn the exhaust to go out the side instead on straight out the back...

Exhaust Need to install side exhaust on maytag dryer

There will be an indented area about 4 inches in diameter if your able to put one in easily. Other wise you'll need either a hole saw 4" or cut a hole in the side of the dryer but before you do make sure your inside piping will reach the new area you want to come from.
Another suggestion would be make a base for your dryer to set on 6 to 8" high cut a hole in the side of it and in the top where you can run the dryer hose through then continue on outside with the hose-vent.

If this helps you please rate me accordingly and good luck.

Dryer will not come on. i changes all my fuses and got a voltage tester and all that is fine, where can i find out about checking any fuses on the dryer itself?

Check the thermal fuse on the dryer.
Remove the rear panel.
The thermal fuse is located on the exhaust vent.
It is about 1 and 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. It is white in color.
It is at the left side of the exhaust vent outlet.
