Question about Dryers

I need to replace the power cord on a maytag dryer LDE7500 from a 3-wire to a 4-wire, but I don't know the wire configuration. Do you have a manual or electrical diagram?

The only difference is that the 4 wire has a ground wire on it that just has to touch the frame and there's a bolt for it near the block in the back of the dryer, just take off the red, white and black wires, install the red, white and black wires on the new cord the same place the old wires were and just ground the ground wire to the frame of the machine and you're done

I HAVE A MAYTAG LAGACY AND IS TO HOT , TWO DAYS EGO I CHANGE THE CABLE OF THREE FOR ONE OF 4 AND THE RED CABLE IS IN THE RED CABLE OF THE DRYER AND THE BLACK CABLE IS THE BLACK CABLE OF THE DRYER THIS CAN...

Double check your power cord installation. The following link explains in detial how a power cord is to be installed and the differences between the 3 and 4 wire configurations:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575913-installing_a_220_vac_appliance_cord

There is a difference in how the power cords are installed. Pay particular attention to how you have the ground and neutral wires terminated. If installed incorrectly, the dryer may not run, you could damage the appliance, or you could create an electric shock hazard. If you have questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Maytag electrical dryer model # PAV2300AWW power supply layout

The following link explains how to properly connect the power cord to your dryer:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575913-installing_a_220_vac_appliance_cord

Pay particular attention to WHICH configuration you have. Your power cord will either be a 3-wire or 4-wire configuration. NOTE: If the wires are not color coded, the outer two wires (left and right) will be the HOT leads. The center conductor is the neutral.

If you're new home is equipped with a 4-wire outlet, you are required to update the dryer to a 4-prong power cord to be in compliance with the National Electic Code.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Just brougth used maytag neptune dryer.model MDE3000AYW

If you are connecting a power cord with a 3-wire configuration, you match the corresponding wire colors from the power cord to the wires on the terminal block in the back of the dryer. The correct color-code is as follows:

RED - HOT (120VAC)
BLACK - HOT (120VAC)
WHITE - NEUTRAL (0VAC)*

*There should be a ground strap or ground wire connected to neutral at the terminal block in a 3-wire configuration.

NOTE: If the wires are not color-coded, the outer two wires (Left and Right) are the HOT leads. The center conductor is Neutral.

If you have any questions, you can refer to this link for further explanation:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575913-installing_a_220_vac_appliance_cord

This explains the difference in 4-wire and 3-wire configurations. I hope this helps you.

The following link explains how to properly install a power cord to your dryer:

Please note the difference between 3 and 4 wire configurations. If the wires are not color coded, the outer two conductors (left and right wires) are the two HOT leads. The center conductor is neutral. If you have any questions please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Need to connect 4 wire pigtail to replace 3 wire

The following link explains how to convert a 3-wire to a 4-wire power cord:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r793520-3_prong_4_prong_power_cord_conversion

The main difference is how the Neutral (White) and the Ground (Green or Bare Copper) wires are terminated at the terminal block. In a 4 -wire configuration these wires are independent of each other. In other words, neutral does NOT get grounded.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Replacing a 3 prong cord with a 4 prong cord on a Maytag Neptune Model # mde4000ayw

These two pictures illustrate the power wiring on a the terminal of an electric dryer. The one on top is the old-style three-wire configuration. Most people have this type in their homes. New code changes, though, require that dryers now have a four-wire cord, shown on the bottom.
Besides the number of wires in each cord, there are two important things to notice. First, in the four-wire configuration, notice that the dryer's grounding strap is folded back on itself. The whole point of the four-wire cord is to separate the ground from the neutral. The green wire (the "new" extra wire in the four-wire cord) is attached to the dryer cabinet. In the three-wire configuration, the grounding strap is left intact and the neutral and ground are tied together.

Sure hope this helps you find a resolution to your delimma! Best wishes.

Converting to a 4 prong power cord on my maytag neptune mde3000... just want to make sure i put the wires in the right spot. Especially the ground. It isn't immediately evident to me

The following link explains how to properly install a power cord to your appliance:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r793520-3_prong_4_prong_power_cord_conversion

The main difference between a 4-prong and 3-prong appliance cord is how the ground and neutral are wired. In a 4-wire configuration, the ground and neutral are INDEPENDENT of each other. In a 3-wire configuration the ground and neutral are wired together at the terminal block via a ground strap.

If you still have questions, let me know. I hope this helps you.

Changing power cord from 4 to 3 prong

Hi,

See this link and read the article carefully - if your dryer already has a 4 wire cord, it should be replaced with same type.

I need help hooking up my Maytag Dryer

here's a link you can try that explains both the 3 and 4 prong dryer cord configurations.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r793520-3_prong_4_prong_power_cord_conversion

If this is an older home that already has a 3-prong receptacle installed, you can still use a 3-prong cord. However, if this a newer home, or if you plan on relocating the appliance, or making any repairs to the existing receptacle, you need to use the 4-prong. I hope this helps you.

If you weren't talking about the dryer cord configuration and need assistance with something else, please let me know.
