If you know the name of the airport touch Where to, then touch Spell Name. Spell the name or part of the name e.g. if Metro Airport is the name of the airport spell metro or metro airport and press done. Select it from a list of places with the same name. Note it must be the name which appears on the map or the satnav won't recognise it.

How to get apple extreme to communicate with windows 7

Hi

Apple Airport Router:

Orange flashing is showing No Connection.

Green LED is functioning with a connection.

Reset the Router by using a paper clip in the round tiny hole on the back. Hold clik button in for 3-5 seconds with router powered on.

Remove power & reconnect.

After a router reset (above) the router should be available on it\'s factory settings (see manual) or show up in the e.g. Settings / WiFi as a selectable choice. An iPhone (Settings / WiFi) is ideal for this. Click on the name to choose it & enter factory password etc.

To make it even easier, you can use the Airport Utility App on your iPhone or iPad to set the Router up for your network settings.

Apple make this pretty easy to set up compared to other routers.

Other Method:

You can use a Browser (e.g. Safari, Firefox, IE etc) to access the IP address of any router from any computer. But first you must know the IP address (or the factory assigned IP address after a reset) currently assigned to the router. This could be on the back or bottom or in the manual that came with the unit.

Connect the router to a computer via an Ethernet cable. Type the address into the URL box and hit return. (The IP address will look like eg. 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.xxx. Type this into the URL entry box instead of say xxx.com./">www.xxx.com. )

If the IP address is correct, the Routers Menu will show up in the browser asking for a Password. (The Router factory Password is in the manual.

Enter the routers password or factory password.

Once you have the routers internal menu in the browser screen you can Find the SSID and give it a name for your Home Network rather than the cryptic factory default. You can set the Router password to your choice (use WAP2)

You can set the WiFi Channel number to a less used channel for your suburb (less busy=faster access). You can assign a new IP address to the device. (Use the 192.168.1.xxx or 10.xxx.xxx.xxx group number that is made available for the public). You will also have to enter the IP address of your Internet Service Provider and a password for your ISP Account. If you don\'t have your ISP\'s preferred DNS IP handy then you can enter 208.67.222.222 or 8.8.8.8. (I found these give 20ms faster response)

Use the SAVE button on the screen to save your settings. This will take a minute and restart with the new settings. You should be set to go.

Once you have it all working.... don\'t forget to copy all the settings onto paper for future reference. On a Mac, just press Cmd Shift 4 and draw a box around the menu settings. This will end up as a screen shot on the Desktop. This saves a lot of writing. Rename the screen shots to something meaningful. (e.g. My Router Settings Page1)

Good Luck

Sounds like you need to enter the ISP's DNS server number into the airport settings.
Maybe you do not have it set to acquire addresses automatically? Auto is usually painless.
You should be able to find it in the router settings.
Just write down the DNS number and put it into Airport.
Also check that you have the Gateway set correctly, it could be the IP address of the router or the modem, depends on your configuration.

MAC address filtering is used to prevent unauthorised people getting access to your wireless network. you need to get into the Airport Extreme configuration using Internet Explorer or any other browser, then select wireless setup then MAC address filtering. You need to turn off MAC address filtering.
Check your manual on how to configure your Airport Extreme.

My wii wont connect to the internet it found the box and i put the password in but it will not connect it also wont pass the conection test

1. Make sure you're connected to the internet via something other than the AirPort card (i.e. Ethernet). Also, make sure AirPort is on.

2. Turn on Internet Sharing:
* Go to System Preferences, click on the Sharing icon, then click on the Internet tab.
* Change the Share your connection from: pop-up to 'Built-in Ethernet.'
* Under the To computers using section, check the AirPort box.
* Click Airport options...
* Enter an easy name such as wii. Leave all the security options blank -- implementing security is an exercise left to the reader -- then click OK.
* Click Start in the Internet Sharing panel.

3. Gather Information:
* Open Terminal.app and type ifconfig en1. In the output...
* Look for: inet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask ...
* Take note the IP Address associated with the first inet, negating values after the # (mine was 10.0.2.1; yours may be different).
* Type dig. Near the bottom of this output will be SERVER: followed by an IP address. This will be the DNS server you will use for your wii.

4. Configure the wii:
* Select a connection to edit.
* Choose Manual Setup.
* Enter the following parameters:
* SSID: wii (or whatever you chose in step one)
* Auto-obtain IP Address: No
* IP Address: Take the first IP Address you obtained earlier, and make the last digit different. i.e., mine could be 10.0.2.4 (10.0.2.1 was original)
* Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
* Default router: The original IP Address, unchanged. (10.0.2.1)
* Auto-obtain DNS: No
* Primary DNS: your DNS SERVER from the dig output.
* Secondary DNS: leave as 000.000.000.000
* Test your connection at the top of the screen. hope it works
