If the suction and the filter are below the top of the water, yes, this is normal ... like other things we have all heard about, water also runs down hill.

How do I unlock my Hayward Xstream filter. I can not get the filter top off

Same problem, brand new filter... I'm 190 lb guy who works out 6 days a week, I can't open this filter for the life of me. If I knew it would be so hard to open I'd have opted for a less expensive sand filter. Cartridge are supposed to keep the water clearer but if you can't open the filter to clean it without spraining a wrist or having a heart attack (or both) what good is it? Beyond mad, I'm thinking of just biting the bullet next spring and buying a filter that actually opens. Even the brand new Hayward chlorinator didn't work properly this past summer, i,thought they were supposed to be good products, dealing with their customer service is pointless.

IRobot Mirra 530 Tips & Tricks

Tips from iRobot Resources:

Run Mirra only when in the water.
Mirra has a very strong motor system that needs to stay cool for optimal performance and life. Your pool water around the motor helps keep it cool during operation. Therefore Mirra should not be run outside of the pool due to the risk of overheating the motor.

Choose the correct filter canister.
Use the Large Debris Filter Canisters when the pool contains a significant amount of large debris (leaves, insects, etc.) and when the pool is opened for the season or cleaning during the Fall. The Fine Filter Canisters are ideal for filtering small debris such as algae, sand, silt and bacteria and for regular pool cleaning maintenance during the peak of your pool season.

Keep Mirra working at peak performance.
Mirra uses the powerful force of water pumped through its filter to clean and circulate pool water and to propel itself around your pool. It pumps and filters more than a gallon of water every second! Clean the filter canisters regularly by removing them from Mirra, emptying its contents and hosing it out. Keeping the filter canisters clean will ensure optimal cleaning results and strong pump suction.

Allow the motor to cool before removing the robot from the pool.
Mirra's power supply has an automatic timer that shuts Mirra off after each cleaning cycle. Wait 20 minutes before removing Mirra from the pool to allow the pump motor to cool. Turn the power supply off and unplug it from the electrical outlet before removing Mirra from the pool.

Pump is blowing cloudy water back into pool

Cloudy water is the bane of sand filters!. I suggest letting filter run day and night. Do not backwash until the pressure rises 8 - 10 pounds above clean starting pressure. Do not try to vacuum or stir up the sediment. when water clears, vacuum to waste. Keep the hose running while vacuuming. A dirty filter is a better filter (up to a point). At a higher pressure the filter will trap more of the fine particles that are clouding your water.

Super pump 11 keeps blowing the threaded adaptor off the discharge. I replaced the 11/2 inch pvc adapter twice. Both times the adaptor blew off. Any ideas.

Something is causing the pump to "dead head" which means it is trying to pump water through a closed pipe. Check any valves, the filter, heater etc.. downstream from the pump. Your water flow is being severely restricted. Hope that helps.

My pool is GREEN! What do I need to do?

You can try using shock or liquid chlorine and bring the chlorine level back to 3 ppm.. 1 small bag can treat up to 10,000 gallons.. After that, raise the cycle time on your chlorinator to maintain that level...
If you do not want to use those chemicals, raise your pump cycle time to 12 hrs and your chlorinator to 10 or 11 hrs and should see some results within a few days... The chemical method should yield faster results... Good luck...

Im new to this pool thing just got a house we a yr old hayward pro seriess210sv, an have no suction or water running in valve clear cover, what do i have to do please help

Remove the cover, put water into the basket, keep filling it even after it spills out onto the floor ... well just for a minute or two. Close the top and snug the hand screws. Make sure the water level is high enough to pump (I. E. water in the skimmers) turn on the pump. Wait up to five minutes to get suction. If nothing is happening ... I would suspect that you are having impeller trouble. You don't say what kind of pump you have ... it must come apart ... be prepared to replace the impeller and all seals that you encounter. If there is a ceramic face seal involved, try to not touch that surface with your fingers.

Let me know what happens.

Good luck in your repair.

Hi my filter has 0 pressure and there is no water coming from the pool. I think there may be a blockage. what do I do? I have tried to backwash but there is no water coming from the pool to the drain.

First, if you haven't done so already, is check all valving to make sure they are open. Next check the pump basket strainer. If clean, you may have to check the pump impellar for blockage.

I recently purchased an Intex pool about 2 months ago. It came with a pump and at first we didnt have any problems with it. All of the sudden there is air in the hoses and it makes an awful noise. I have...

Disconnect the pump from the power source. Turn both water valves on the side of the pool off. Now turn on the water valve on your right as you look at the pool. Now open the bleeder valve on the top of the filter cartridge. Leave it open until you can see or hear no more air escaping. This may take a couple of minutes. Now open the bleeder valve on the back side of the pump and do the same. Now open the water valve on the far left side of the pool. Plug the pump in and turn the pump on. If you still have air in the system repeat the process. You must do it in the order I described. Need an owner's manual go here; http://pr-rp.pmra-arla.gc.ca/PR_SOL/pr_web.ve1?p_ukid=5143

Pool Pump - keeps getting air

It sounds like you might not be getting enough suction on your pool filter. I would check all of the hose connections for cracks, loose fittings, etc. If you are getting any extra air, it will cause your pressure to decrease.
