Question about Sharp AQUOS LC-65SE94U 65 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Brand new TV, spotty HDMI functionality (sometimes recognizes cable box or comupter, but not always). Attempted firmware update on a Sharp Aquos LC-32SH7E (European model). Don't think it ever initialized, and now get a black screen and will not respond to any buttons. Tried to perform factory reset (Un-plug power hold input and - volume same time) then plug in power. Still same result!

Did you go through the entire factory reset? When you plugged in the power cord did you continue to hold the volume - and input button until the television powered on and a K appeared on the screen never releasing at all?

Force the tv on by holding down channel down and volume + on the tv while plugging the tv in. See if the tv still lights up and if you get audio.

Why did it freeze during software update?

Here is some help on a Sharp Aquos. You pull the plug and update manually.

Sharp Aquos Firmware Update Issue and Resolution I recently had problems with my Sharp Aquos LC-60LE632U and firmware update 311U1204061. When I attempted to run the Netflix app, I was told that I couldn't proceed unless I updated the firmware. After 2 attempts to update the firmware via the network, I turned to Google and found that this was a common problem. In order to resolve the issue, you'll need to update the firmware manually, via a USB thumb drive. See the following instructions:

  1. Go to the Sharp USA product download site
  2. After you choose your TV model, download the firmware file
  3. View the rest of the instructions found here

Television is not recognizing HDMI inputs

there is a possibility that there might have been a power surge sent over hdmi into the hdmi board on the tv. if on your model the hdmi board is seperate from the sine board then youll have a cheap replacement if not its gonna cost you roughly 300-400 is my guess.

Close captioning on HDMI

The TV will not display closed caption with HDMI input. It must either over-the-air (antenna) or composite input for the TV to manage CC.

To get CC with HDMI from your Comcast DVR, you need to configure the cable box. Instructions can be found here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_use_a_Motorola_DVR/Setup

If you want CC all of the time, this works well. But since you must power-off the cable box to change the setting, switching CC on and off is a real pain.

Your set-up is similar to mine (Sharp Aquos 46" and Comcast DVR). I have the composite output from the cable box going to a DVD-recorder and on to the TV. Whenever I need CC (usually to catch some mumbled dialog), I just rewind the DVR, and switch the TV input to the composite input. Then I switch back to HDMI to continue watching in HD.

New Sharp Aquos LCD 46 TV

If you hooked up the satelite box to your tv Automaticly the Satelite box is the one who pick up the channels (from the satelite)
In this case your tv is acting as a monitor only. Try to connect your tv with HDMI cable or COMPONENT cable for best picture. Don't use RF antenna input to hook up your Satelite Box. Hope this Helps

HDMI audio problems with my sharp LC42D64U

the problem is that your cable box is putting out too low of a bandwidth to your tv and is cutting out completely. Since its all digital either its there or not. try switching to componant cables. Cable boxes only support up to 720p anyway so you wont sacrafice any quality.

Hope this helps

Sharp Aquos 46"LCD

You might want to try a system manufactured on the last two years most brand new components will support HDMI connections, of course the price will be a important too but you can find systems for about $200. Any brand of your liking will do just look for the HDMI logo on the box or the front of the component. If you consider to keep your amp, try to find a HDMI to AV converter I would not recommend to do this due to the fact that they are pricey and hard to find on top of that think about the loss of quality on your audio and video (personal experience).
